ANGELA-the cocktail book is going to be like a wee scrapbook but ive been online getting "recipes" and have a note of some from articles in newspapers ,magazines etc dont know exactly how im going to do it yet-girls are always about so havent had time to "play" with all my craft stuff or print stuff out.

RUFUSDOG-Sorry to hear about your dog but think of all the happy times you both had together

Re christmas traditions my youngest are 18 so feel we have kinda lost out on what we did but until last year one thing we did was to wear silly christmassy headgear eg hats and deelyboppers and play christmas songs and act silly whilst putting up the tree and the deccies .other than that nothing particular we do as i used to work shifts and now my hubby does so could be working right through the festivities ahhh the joys of working for the NHS lol

hope everyone got done all they had planned yesterday and heres to next month

Editted to add - Inkedkitten and PLM did you too used to use the Lush forum before it got all updated and changed??

Hiya, nope I've not used the lush forums before...is there someone out there with my name?! hehe hope not!

Angela, I'm also polish so have the big wigilia shin dig at mine with lots of family! I'm trying to make the most of the next 2 Christmases because I'm a student midwife and have a fear that when I qualify I'll be working christmas forever more :( I love looking after the women and babies but can they not just wait for one day hehe :P

One tradition I have started is after my family have come round and had the polish meal on xmas eve I leave early and go to a pub with my close friends to welcome in christmas day! Tis lovely to be with family but friends give me a break from them, and we give our pressies and enjoy ourselves!

    Hi all

    Phunkles -
When you mentioned you will be in the same country and time zone, does that mean you will literally be together and usually you're not? If it was me I would just tell him what I normally do and expect him to fall in with it. If he didn't like it, then you could compromise no doubt. Yep :D Last year I stayed with my family and he spent the holiday with his ex wife and her kids and their family over there (USA if anyone was wondering) - this year hell be over here full time - which makes me sound like a cow 'cause he wont be with his ex wife's kids but we'll both be over there for Thanksgiving in November

Re question about Christmas Eve traditions.. My family are Polish so I never celebrated Christmas Day. The C.Eve was the biggie - loads of courses of meatless dishes and presents, singing carols under the tree. It was only when I got married that I started making a traditional English Christmas dinner and celebrating it in the usual manner. So my children always had the Polish Christmas as well as the English one.

How did you get on with your things to do before dinner Phunkles?
Erm yeah my list of things to do hasnt really decreased :( But theres always tomorrow

I could so go a Christmas Dinner Mhagster :) for sure I could - Last Christmas I had the flu anyway so didnt eat very much of mine.
Oooo Im all excited about Christmas now
And how impressed am I that some one changes there child while they sleep into Xmas pjs :D
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together
  • I wanna join in! I have a little chalk board hanging up, telling me how many days to Christmas, and I have very nearly finished making my first Christmas present, a star shaped lapghan for a little girl called Star!

Thanks again to everyone who sent hugs etc, it was really appreciated. Feeling a little better this morning, our other dog is a bit better too, he has been off his food for the last few days while Rufus was ill, they have always had their dinner together so he was waiting for Rufus to come out for his before he would start. Last night was fine though, I think he must have been starving and ate it all as soon as the bowl hit the floor.

I have finished knitting 4 multi-coloured hats with hear muffs and plaits for my nieces so some more presents out the way. Going to do the boys normal pull on knittted hats next.

    Catch you later xx

toot toot - we made martin's newsletter mel - people will be coming from everywhere to take a look at us nutters on here!! lol.

Weathers not too grand today so going to watch a christmas film I think and make some more snowman poop...I always dream about making stuff like this but this year I have cos I'm organised.

As I'm aiming for the smallest gifts possible (to those who dont know I'm giving everyone purses with giftcards inside for one year as baby two will be due in the november so the last thing I want to be doing is shopping with a new born in the crazy christmas rush) anyway I saw these digital photo keyrings they were 15pounds in argos but they were about a third of the price on ebay - so I might do them for a couple of people who I don't want to do wallets or purses for (they're only a couple of inches wide I think so you can't get much smaller than that) can't wait to see if I can get all the pressies wrapped with one roll of paper! Except for the bairns presents of course (which are ridiculously huge normally).
I'm planning tags for pressies (so might plan to do them on the next rudolph day) with names on the front cut out on the cricut (approx 2 inches high) - someone did them last year - not sure if it was rainmac?!?! looked fab but ran out of time.

May I wriggle into a corner somewhere please? I've literally just posted on the What to Buy Now thread that I found lurking on my list of subscriptions--the last post on there was June 08 :o
I promise to read from the beginning later, & to uphold the Faith of Continual Christmas Cheer :p If it helps sweeten my enrollment, I've already begun my crimbo shopping :j:rotfl:

    Traditions?

we get together with my family - we have had as many as four generations altogether for the big day (thankfully I only did it at mine once as I have the least room) and we are just waiting for the next generation to 'come through' but no sign yet. (We are back down to 3 generations now)

My 15yo DS said, last xmas, that even if he had NO GIFTS he would still love xmas because we get together and play games and have fun.

And one question, still asked is what time I woke up (I still way up very early and I am erm over 40 lol) - and then, every year, my kids are told what their mum did at xmas, how soon I woke up, read my annuals then read theirs etc

My youngest sister LOVES buying me gifts because I am so appreciative of gifts...

We buy 'new baby' ornaments when they are born so we have mismatched tree decs, some of mine came from my grandmother who died in 1994.

Those perfect, matching ornament trees Do look nice but for me christmas is about celebrating family and happy memories...
