I realise this is not exactly the right place for it (DIY board?) but as so many people are sounding off about it, what is the "cure" for black mould in plaster - chemical treatment or chop out and replaster?
(please note I do not mean prevention, I mean cure for existing mould)
It depends what the root cause is.
If it's rising damp (ground floor, low down) you need to hack back the plaster and install a damp proof course. If it's penetrating damp (usually distinct areas, can see cause from outside) you need to fix the guttering/ repoint, and either replaster or allow the plaster to dry out, depending how serious the ingress is. If it's condensation (external walls, esp. behind furniture) you need to ventilate properly/ use a dehumidifier and use a mould and mildew spray. The damp is usually superficial so there is no need to remove any plaster.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

How dare you make out that I am an IDIOT!! when the only IDIOT here is YOU!! you have just jumped to your own conclusions regarding this matter and people like you are harmful to other's with comments like you have made, people come on here for a reason mainly for help and advice and I strongly suggest you keep your opinions to yourself if you have nothing nice or helpful to say, TROLLS are not needed on this site so I suggest you need to get a life.0 -
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the nice and helpful people that advised me and given me the strength to get this horrible matter sorted, I have had the property tested and IT'S NOT DAMP!!!!! so I am going to stand my ground with this scrounger who is just out to earn a quick buck!! I have never or would ever rent my property out to anyone if it was substandard that would be detrimental to their health.
Thanks to all you nice people and a two fingered salute to all those who never have anything nice to say, oh and not forgetting the TROLLS!!!!!0 -

You need to grow a thicker skin! You only joined this month yet have the nerve to have a go at people who have been on here for years helping others. Stay and help for a year or so and then I think you'll have earned the right to have a go!0 -

What utter rubbish! I would never intentionally got out to upset anyone, there is no need to add comments when they dont know all the facts, if the cant be helpful then keep their opinions to themselves. I will no longer be adding to this thread as I aint here to waste my time I have more things to do with my life than than be petty0 -
 Gwhiz - Ms. Pitstop may come under the heading of having "been on here for years", but "helping others"?? Some of her previous posts in other threads offensively refer to people as "diddies", "half wits", " idiots" etc and she's adequately demonstrated yet again in this thread that she has a tendency to jump to conclusions & be abusive with it. Kind of ironic that she harangues others about their prejudices.I don't condone the OPs outburst either, but its perhaps best not to send things into a downward " flaming" spiral ? OP - glad that you have managed to get some confirmation that will help you move forward with sorting this out . Get an experenced LL & T lawyer and if you are going to continue letting join a local or national LL association: tax deductable membership fee, valuable guidance on these sorts of issues, plus discounts on your LL insurances.0 -

thanks - exactly that. Top of built in wardrobe where the sides are just the original (external) plastered walls. Will try mould killer from Homebase0 -
