I had to fill in one when I won an iPod from an American company but they then bought it from Amazon UK to send to me instead of importing it which could likely have incurred customs etc.

If they're sending the rackets from the US not sure about costs. I think if you're buying stuff over £18 you need to pay but not sure if that's the same if you win/gift.

Depends what it is, if they send it marked as a gift then no. Would a comp win count as a gift ?
In the US most things are taxable...poker professional have to pay tax on wins for example...but a brit winning there just has to fill out a form to say he's a brit and he doesn't.

Gift parcels
A gift mailed to Britain is not free of duty and VAT merely because it is a gift. Gift packages can be sent to the UK free of Duty and VAT only if they comply with these rules:

• The value of the goods must not exceed £36 (approximately $72).
• Packages must be correctly declared.
• They must have been sent by a private person abroad to another private person in Britain.
• The gift must be for the use of either yourself or your family.
• There is no commercial or trade element.
• Any alcohol, tobacco products, perfumes or toilet waters are within the Customs allowances and costs (see above).
• They must be of an occasional nature only, such as a birthday or anniversary.

It's not foolproof, but perhaps a temporary solution to the search problem is to use Google

(add the search query into the box before or after site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com)

I've checked with some comps I've posted since the upgrade and it's finding them, unlike mse.
