In theory that stops unwanted calls, not immediately, it takes a few weeks. You do still get the odd one or two calls, but as soon as you say you're registered the legitimate companies normally apologise and end the call.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I have a question (sorry if it's already been asked and answered). If you spot a comp which has a regular poster, but hasn't been posted, and the closing date looms, do you post or not? :think:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES

Wonder if any of you know what the answer to this problem is ?
I have been comping on here for 2 years and ever since have been getting recorded message phone calls , they are now about 5 a day and my husband is really annoyed about it. I think you can buy something to block the calls ?
does anyone know what this devise is please ?
Hi Mirry,
TPS is a start, but they don't seem to be able to do anything about overseas or offshore callers. I've just seen the Truecall device in John Lewis, that looks very interesting. Details are here:
http://www.truecall.co.uk/acatalog/trueCallMovie.html
Apparently it was on Dragon's Den and Peter took it up, and is involved. They cost about £75 - £97 depending where you buy it. When I started to look into it, you need BT's Caller ID (free?) to use it, but I haven't managed to find out what this is. Does anybody know please?0 -

I've noticed from the discussions about this lately that the accepted and friendly thing to do is to PM the usual poster to ask if they were going to post the comp you have found. hth0 -

hi Matryoshka, think it depends on the comp, everyone has their own opinion on this, but when i first joined here was advised as "forum decorum" polite thing to do is pm the regular poster first,
if it's in postals, puzzler.com,
tab puzzler comps monthly or the puzzle mags weekly, there are reg posters that buy the mags or pay subs to keep the issues flowing so it's kind of like a good thing as it stops lots of mags being duped etc, if the poster doesn't resond to thier pm's from you & it's getting near the c/d then i think it's in all fairness to everyone that you post so's no-one misses out,
as for main board comps, 'fraid i kind of get used to regular posters doing them as well even though it's a different thing but have been told that anyone can post them, still think it's a polite thing to do to pm & see first though,

Hi all
Quickie question. I entered a comp earlier and I was emailed straight back and asked to provide the link where I found the competition. What do I do? Do I link them to the post on MSE or shall I just ignore it? As the comp was an email entry I didn't check the link which it seems is now expired, but just sent off the details in an email. Don't want to cause any trouble for MSE or the OP so not sure what's best to do now
.

I personally would just delete the email and forget all about it,
could you maybe post the link so we know which comp it was for0 -

That competition appears to have expired in December 2008. Hence they probably want to know how people are still managing to enter it. It's probably worth pressing expired on that thread so other people don't do the same. Out of politeness, it's also probably best to email them back.
eta. Sorry, just read you had already pressed expired.0
