I've been doing a lot of competitions recently from the forum, I've now received an email from some of my friends pointing out that i've "sent" them a spam email. It's sent to everyone in my contacts. I have virus protection etc, and am generally very careful and savvy so I can't understand where it's come from. Has anyone else seen this?

i've had this as well. Managed to stop it by changing my password to my e-mail, always logging in from scratch (i.e. not ticking the box for remembering the e-mail address) and always signing out of my account as soon as i've done, fingers crossed it's done the trick.

Do you have MSN on your email account?

I have a feeling this could be an MSN virus

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago (from my hotmail comping addy). In Options, more options, send automated vacation replies - Don't send any vacation replies should be marked (the other one was marked when this was happening). It kept being changed back until I changed my password. It did stop it though.

I don't think this is in anyway linked to the comps on here though it is just something that is working it's way round at the moment as i have 3 friends this happened to and they do not use this site or do any comping.

There was a lot of it linked to other websites which have had recent securtiy compromises.

Make sure you clear any cookies and change your passwords.
