sites to be avoided, copied from Velvetgloves comping guide....

11 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember that this is only the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.

    4FreeUK
    ABCWins
    Clash Club/Clash media
    Club La Costa

    Fair Exchange
    GetMeATicket
    GetYourBillsPaid
    GreatUKsurveys

    MyConsumer
    MyOffers
NoizeMakesEnemies (Care - your profile with name, address, phone number & email appear to be on show with no way to make it private!!)
    Opinioniser

  • A friend of mine has apparently won a comp with the above company for a 7days, 6 nights cruise to Spain. There is only a £20 admin cost which would be fine if all is as it seems however he wants to make sure its not a scam...can anyone enlighten me as to how legit the website is? Has anyone dealt with them before?

    Thanks in advance
  • Sorry but sounds like a scam to me. Did he actually enter a comp with them? In my experience anyone asking for any money means scam.

  • Just done a quick check and seems that comp was run by Planet49, a known scammer. You may want to check this out:

If you search planet49 on this forum you'll find several previous questions about it too.

    Hi,

I have had many phone calls like that in the past and they are a scam.

Usually something to do with taking you away and forcing you to buy abroad.

Can't think of the word it is called, my grandmother was nearly scammed like this once before.

Please avoid. If you win something then it should be free not have to pay for it.

  • Hi all, I have been informed this is the Scramble thread so I wanted to say this...

Look, you all have the wrong impression of me, you all seem to hate me and I want to clear this up. :(

FYI, I'm the PSP guy, and you may have noticed that my tweets have been going up and down lately. In fact, I lost around 20 tweets in total due to fake accounts being deleted. So why do you all have a grudge against me?

P.S I have no idea if the camera person, claire is here, but good luck to her.

I've got a problem with it - it never lets me win! (But seriously, it's working fine now.) ;)
