Purchasing a new laptop with Windows 7

Acer UK seems to be predicting the release date as October (whether correctly or not) - http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/news.phtml/23846/acer-confirms-windows-7-23-october.phtmlDeleted_User wrote: »I think I'll wait until Windows 7 is released and just buy one then.0 -
Other - I'm awkwardI chose other as I prefer Mac OS X Leopard, thus no need for Windows. However I am running Windows 7 already on my Macbook albeit the RC version (which will be very close to the final version).
I like windows 7, much better than Vista, and really liking the new taskbar which is much more intuitive.
Seems very stable and if I was to buy it, I would not be concerned about getting in from release day as long as all my hardware/software was compatible.0 -
1 month - Teething problems ironed out first pleasewell seeing as ive just got a shiny new laptop i wouldnt buy a new comp with it. however i will upgrade and i hope there's something to all these rumours about it being subsidised to vista users!Back by no demand whatsoever.0

Other - I'm awkwardI am running an early beta of win 7 as we speak on my other laptop with a few background apps and iplayer taking 492meg ram and very few bugs.
Frankly any laptop bought that runs vista will run win7, there is an argument however to waiting so you get a win7 licence and the i5 mobile cpus will likely also be out and if they are anything like the i7's then they will be amazing.0 -

Sorry you're out of luck. The subsidised W7 upgrade for Vista users only applies for computers bought after July of this year! I missed out on the xp upgrade program by 2 weeks! :mad:Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Ive been using windows 7 beta for other a month now. Ive been very impressed for a beta version. Dual booted windows 7 with vista but i havnt even botherd to log onto vista since.
Havnt had a single os crash and all my hardware works, more reliable and faster than vista. Like i said very impressed for whats currently still in an experimental stage. As someone else said though, wont buy a laptop based on a os as you can isntall any os you like.0 -

It will be the Upgrade version, the same version that is available to everyone else. I don't understand why there's an expectancy for Microsoft to give away their new product to around 200 million users?0 -

Well according to Microsoft, Vista is great and everyone loves it, so they probably don't think anyone will want Windows 7 anyway.0
