What's each bank's policy on taking Bank Giro Credits?

That's nothing. Back in the 50s, they had to walk 20 miles uphill both ways in the snow to do a simple balance enquiry. FPS? Don't give me none of that. Didn't even have BACS. They did bank transfer by smoke signal. And cheques were exchanged by carrier pigeon.
Back in the good old days.0 -

Cheques? I saw one of them in the museum.
Nowadays only use super faster payments at Makebeleive bank. So fast it gets there two days before you paid it!0 -

I'm young enough that I've never paid using a BGC and written a grand total of two cheques in my lifetime.
But you're still old

I have paid precisely one bill through BGC (because Barclaycard apparently will only ever take one debit card payment each month, for reasons beyond the realms of human comprehension) and I used to pay my driving instructor with cheques because I hate carrying cash around more than I hate cheques. Aside from that, I've written exactly two cheques seriously, excepting today when I wrote one for £12billion as a joke.
Fun fact - you can't fit that many noughts on HSBC's online stop cheque form.0 -

No, I just have a multitude of cheque books at home (for equally incomprehensible reasons) and a f**ked up sense of humour.0 -
