Is offering 20k below asking price a bit too cheeky?!!!

I hope you do not look back in a few months and think "I wish I had offered more".

I have thought long and hard about this, but I am not willing to pay 130k for it...i could but i won't - its not worth it to me. There are loads and loads of other nice flats on the market that i can afford and feel happy and safe in. Its just a shame this one was my favourite, but i will not be made broke by a huge mortgage payment - it would have meant sacrificing too many other things and i won't do that.

I agree, not every EA plays games, but this one has been, and is well reputed locally for doing so, sadly. I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, if they hadn't had something advertised i was interested in.

You never know the higher bidder may not complete. If they do, hopefully you will find another flat real soon.

I would not get over emotional about the EA. Most are bottom feeders, they are just doing a job by fair means or foul and you don't have to like them.

  • I agree about EA, i've not got into anything with them, and remained emotionless, its just annoying the way they carry on. But from what I've read on here, some people have had a really horrendous time with EA's,so i'm lucky and i will move on

You could always put in the higher offer and in a couple of weeks time 'realise' you can't afford it/get the finance and have to reduce your offer...
  • If there wasn't another offer in i would, but there is and she's accepted it. I know from advisors enquires that if i were to offer 125k it would be rejected, and im not paying 130k. but i'll keep an eye on the website, and i'm sure they'll be quick on the phone if it falls thru!

I don't think you were quite getting my hint so will elaborate (and upset some people)

    - Offer the 130k or whatever you need to
    - Wait a couple of weeks till the other interested party is gone
    - Reduce offer

i was all for tgetting friends to make a smaller offer and any other games of hat nature but i think going to that extreme is a bit low.
