I'll change my vote to budget airlines if you want me to? ;)

The only problem with splitting the board in any way is that threads will inevitably still be placed on the main board (especially by the Ryanair rip off crowd), and threads just don't get moved when they should be, so defeating the object of the separate boards! :o

i hate to say this, and it isn't a personal attack on anyway, but is this because the board guide/guides we have only merge things when asked... honestly nothing against them as they're doing it all for nowt, it just seems like everything it just left there, unless asked...

merging and moving of threads is something that could be done so much more often..

But please do pm us & request moves or merges. We don't & can't physically read every thread on every board we're board guides on. I for one certainly have no problem receiving a pm, I actually welcome them :)

We are not talking about odd threads that are missed though, are we? In the great majority of cases it is obvious when a thread needs moving/ merging, and the thread does not need to read past the title. Can I politely suggest that BG's need to be more proactive, as opposed to reactive?

maybe the board guides are spread a bit too thin on the ground if you can't handle what you do, i mean, you're a board guide on 5 boards, and i've hardly seen you around since it was announced you're a board guide, and before that, i'd never even seen you...

i totally agree that you it should be proactive, maybe the board guide situation needs looking, people who can actively moving things to the right place, rather than being so busy posting and moving on other boards, they never get around to this one..

  • Hi everyone

Just to say, on the board guide point, we're not taking on new board guides at the moment but I'll happily see if any of our other current board guides would like to cover the Travel boards too as long as you promise to be nice!

We don't ask board guides to be around all the time, nor expect them to read or do anything with every thread on their boards, there are just way too many for that.

You can certainly help them out by letting them know if you think there's something they could do, but again, as ever, being friendly is the key.

I quite like the split of itineraries/plans and deals, if someone wants to know what offers are on it's now easier to find. Just don't know why one has to be the subboard of the other, whichever way round it's done people will be less likely to post on the subboard (more clicks lol)

littlestar1981 - the point is that 75% of the posts currently on the main board have nothing to do with deals, and are about planning, but they're not here, they are there..

anyway, the discussion has really moved into a thread on the main board that martin has posted, and we've got some quite good ideas going back and forth..

    *tries to be nice*

didn't i just said spread too thin on the ground?

no offence at all meant here, but having people who don't use the travel board as a board guide means they're probably not going to be that interested to pop over here to do the housekeeping that is sometimes needed.

    proactive, not reactive..

yes, i did send a PM today to get a thread moved, and it was moved, but a travelboard regular who is also a board guide , could have done it quicker..
