!!!!. Ryan has been excluded and in view of the 'conversation' (read 'row') I have just had with his headmaster, he wont be returning to that school ever again.

    Don't know what to do.

    He swore at a teacher.

The thing I'm really angry about is that a few days ago, he had a major meltdown at school and hit his support teacher. We had to go and see the headmaster about it, but there was no punishment.

So apparently violence just gets you a ticking off, but if you swear, then you're excluded.

I was really angry and wanted an explanation, but the head kept interrupting me, so I'm afraid I did get angry and I did shout a bit, so he threatened to call the police (I told him to go right ahead, but he didn't).

I'm not condoning swearing OR violence by the way, but I just wanted him to explain why violence wasn't enough to get him excluded, but a few swear words are.

To top it off, my Mum and Dad were supposed to be coming over today - I rang to tell them what had happened and ask them not to come - and they weren't really interested in the fact that I think school have acted ridiculously, only wanted to have a go at me for getting angry.

Oh, and then they gave me a guilt trip for 'not letting them' come over and see Natasha for her birthday. Her birthday isn't till tomorrow but they can't come then BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BUSY WITH SOMETHING COMPLETELY NON-ESSENTIAL

Doesnt seem right, BUT maybe it was because it was another *mark* against him so soon?

The thing is snags, Autistic/ASD kids to swear and are sometimes violent. That's how it is. The school should be aware of this and they should be able to deal with the behaviours in a positive way. If they can't then this really isn't the right school for Ryan.

First of all, does he have a statement? Do you have a named children with disabilities social worker? Not just the duty team. Getting them involved is crucial, don't worry, it isn't the big scary social services, they are a team of people who are there to ensure that a child with special needs gets the support they need, at school and out of it.

Before I go on and on :) I need to know where you are at with getting things official, statements etc. We can then take it from there.

Don't worry though, this could be the best thing for Ryan.

If they'd have given me that as a reason in the first place, I would have accepted it. I would have accepted him getting excluded for just the hitting incident too.

When they rang me (the secretary rang, not the pathetic, cowardly headmaster), I asked why he'd been excluded, and she said for swearing. I said I was stunned because he hadn't been excluded for violence. She went a bit quiet, and then said....sounding unsure......'errrr, well, it's probably for both'.

    PROBABLY for both?????

You're telling me he's excluded but you're not even sure why?????
