Hi all. Congrats to Mr Essex-boy. HGV is such a useful thing to have. My DH passed his years ago and, being self-employed, it came in really useful when his own work slowed down. He finds it a lot harder these days because the roads are so much busier. He admires anyone who passes it in today's heavy traffic!

We have great supermarkets here as well as local butchers and so on. All the supermarkets have good meat and fish counters - the choice is amazing. The fish counters are works of art - everything is arranged beautifully - it makes it so tempting.

Donny-gal - we have Lidl, LeaderPrice, HyperU, Hyper Casino (which even opens on a Sunday morning!) and Le Eclerc. We even have a local petrol station which is open every day and sells milk and other basics, so we are well-catered for. The bread flours I have tried so far are Pain au Maison (basic white flour, but makes lovely bread), Paysan (which has an almost nutty taste and a rye colour) and Champagne. There are others which I will work my way through in time. It's all dearer than in the UK, as is the yeast, but I still prefer homemade bread, even though French bread is so good. I'll still need to buy some things from the UK, but on the whole, I'm enjoying experimenting with the French stuff! DH will eat anything, so bad buys aren't wasted!

Anyway, I'm off to check the chicken in the Remoska, then I'll get the potatoes on.

    Pippa - (((hugs))) to you.

Good afternoon everyone - hope you're having a good day so far?

The sun is shining here and the wind has died down a bit, so it's better than it's been!

About to head home and then got to be out again at 7:10pm, so it's a quick turnaround for me tonight. Pizza from the freezer for tea and let's hope it doesn't give me indigestion, as I'm singing with the Choir tonight.

Didn't hang out the washing this morning but I might give it an airing when I get home as it's dried up.

Have a lovely evening and a good weekend everyone :)

Thank You all for the comments re OH, WS it does seem much harder to pass now plus its very expensive. 7 people failed yesterdayand 2 who took their test at the same time. He is very pleased with himself especially as his family never encouraged him to do anything so he is doing things now in his forties! We have 1 driver taking it next 1 and 1 the week after.

WS - I do wish you luck when you start potty training, DS was brill, potty trained before he could talk (he didnt talk till 3 - now never stops) however DD who is my first was a total nightmare - didnt find out till she was 7 that she had kidney problems.

Have had a really lazy day and feel sluggish now, rain has now gone and bright sunshine has arrived - hopefully will stay for the weekend.

A warning to those with little ones.

Those animal shaped egg shaped markers 'from 18 months' first markers - not little bear proof. Black ink (penguin) all over little bear, rather nice t shirt, living room and now me. I have the worst of it off - wish I had a picture - but he still looks remarkably like a coal miner.

Fortunately it seems water soluble, but really!

I only went downstairs to shove some oven chips in the oven and sausages in the Remoska.

Essexgirl - my understanding was that it was notoriously hard to pass and also expensive. But now your dear heart has passed I hope you reap the rewards.

Moliere - hope you have fun with the breads. Faintly envious. Not enough to actually switch on the breadmaker, but envious all the same.

    Evening all

Thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday, DH , DD and I went out last night and had a lovely meal, it made such a lovely change to not cook and more importantly wash up and clean up afterwards ;)

I have spent time arranging my new sewing box, and now feel super organised :D

DH is on the PS3, DD on the laptop and I'm just about to cook tea, chilli and cornbread - followed by birthday cake :D

Mioliere - you sound like you're settling in well

Essex girl - congrats to your OH

    Sunnygirl - (((((hugs)))))

    Evening all
I'm sorry but I'm way behind with the daily, I'm just getting no time for myself at the moment. Hubby is still working at school, this means we leave for work at the same time & I now eat my cereal at the table with hubby instead of in front of the computer screen.
Still we are very pleased that he is still working at school for neither BIL1 or BIL2 have any work for him we have no idea for how long he'll be at school but all the time they want him in he'll go.
My workload is still at a crazy level, we have our 2nd Ofsted visit next week, to check on our progress & so of course everyone is doing a good impression of a blue !!!!!d fly, but I am at least getting help as soon as I ask now instead of getting fobbed off.
I'm crocheting a throw in burgundy & navy & try to do a few rows every evening, but I'm still doing more sleeping that crocheting, lol.
I have a couple more dog sitting jobs coming up, so that will be a bit extra money coming in. I also have a couple of weekends babysitting, fortunately they both fall during school holidays, I love to spend time with the grandchildren but find it difficult when I've got such a lot of work on.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Evening Guys!

My GP has just left me.....the nurse wasnt happy earlier with a rash that I had come up a few days ago, so he popped in after his surgery....I love my GP! I have a skin infection, probably due to new medication I am on, so he has pescribed anti-biotics and an anti-biotic/steroid cream:confused:.....OH offered to make him a cuppa but he said that he was already in trouble with the missus for being late:rotfl:...he also checked BP (low) and said my eyes look abit yellow:eek::eek::eek::eek:.....gee thanks!

OH & I may go away for a couple of days later this month as I start new treatment beginning of June and we need to spend a little time focusing together as I dont think its going to be very pleasant. Friends have offered to have DD...but Im not sure.

Not sure if anyone has watched this, but we have started watching a series called The Mentalist and it is brilliant. I love Criminal Minds etc, so this is a great one if anyone likes that type of thing. We are going to watch another one in a bit, then OH had a free voucher for Blockbusters, so he hired out Taken:confused:....not sure what its about yet, but OH said it looked good.

Have DD's mate round tomorrow....she has verbal diarhea (sp) but is a funny girl.

Also wanted to say that DD got all her option choices:j:j:j....Triple Science, Geography and Art....she is very pleased.

    Take care everyone.

Hi all, sorry I've been ignoring you but I've been running round like a loon.

I haven't caught up with all the posts lately (and probably never will - you lot talk too much :p ) so I hope you're all ok.

I just popped in to say I'VE GOT CHICKENS :j:j:j They're 4 weeks old and sooooooo cute :D I've got a Light Sussex, a Wellsummer, a Cotswold Legbar and a Maran :D We were going to get point of lay hens but I saw the younger ones and HAD to have them. Trouble is we'd bought layers pellets so that's been put away for now and we had to buy the chick stuff, we had to make a lower perch too, lol.

Pics tomorrow - if they'll stop turning their backs on me each time I go near them  :D
