  • Are you sure?

On the T&C link for me (I saved a PDF to my pc) it said

Balance transfers made within 90 days of the account opening date £0
Cheque transactions made within 90 days of the account opening date £0
Money transfers made within 90 days of the account opening date £0

When i went through & put all my details in & got to the bit where you put what you owe, under that it said about being charged???

I was abit confused as it does say no handling fee on balance transfers & putting the money into your account.

If i 100% could guarentee i would get 5k i would apply for this card - if they give me say around 2k it seems pointless & not worth being credit scored again

OH applied online and got accepted instantly for 6000+ limit!!! yippeee. though over the last 2 months we had just closed the OHs amex card with limit of £7000 and another card with limit of £5000 and a current account with OD of 2500. So her overall available credit had gone down and would have been surprised if rejected.

Wish i cud apply but i dare not as I have a 17000 limit on anMBNA affiliate card!! though nothing outstanding on it. Good times of stoozing seem to be back!!!!

  • i just applied online and got the "we'll ger back to you in 7-ten days" - so that may be a no then...?

got excellent credit history and have a virgin, egg money (cleared each month) and a lloyds card which is clear - so i am hoping for a yes!

Hubby took out a BMI in May and has just last week got the satander 0% - is it worth him applying now for this one...or too close together? he does have a virgiin money on the 0% and has excellent credit history.

thanks for any advice and fingers crossed!!

"1.9% for 12 months" - Is this 12 months from the date that you apply for the card or 12 months from when you make the transfer?

Got a Virgin card that the 0% will end on in December. I want to know if I can apply for this card now and then hold on to it for a couple of months before making the money transfer to pay it off (obviously before the 90 day limit is up).

From the date you receive and activate the card.

I don't think you'll be able to balance transfer from Virgin to this new MBNA card because they are both issued from MBNA. Cards issued from the same company don't usually allow in-house transfers.

MBNA run card promotions always end on a statement date, so in this case it'll be the date of the 12 statement since account opening. It makes sense, therefore, to delay your first statement for as long as possible. You can do this by asking for a particular statement date, ie if calling to activate the card on the 17th September then ask for a 16th of the month statement date.

Conveniently, BT's from a current account overdraft (ie 'super balance transfer') are given on the same terms so there's a workaround. ;)
  • That's interesting YorkshireBoy as i was wondering about the exact date i would need to have this paid off before the interest went up. I'm to expect my new card in a week so realistically, the 10th - if i asked for statement date to be the 9th then i would have 9/10 days from payday to ensure my final payment goes onto the card and clears my balance by next October.
