so do you have to ask each dealer if they have a pre-reg car available or is there somewhere you can see them listed? Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.0 -

Because they want to, can afford to and know that in the long run their old banger would need replacing so why not get a discounted sipper now to replace the ageing and expensive to repair guzzler.
No brainer.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

No brainer.
Not if they are " getting in to debt " tho' surely?0 -

All depends.
If their debt is easily managable then it's a no brainer. If it's not then they are idiots.
I've got over 20% off the list with no effort and the used some easy ebay cash to pay some more off and bubbled the rest at 0% for a car that is much, much, much cheaper to tax and will save me over £1000 a year on my fuel bill.
Extrapolate that over say 5 years and the figures make great reading.
Certainly I would have loved to have kept my car and saved my money but with nearly 200,000 on the clock it's starting to cost far too much to keep on the road.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -

I was checking with the two nearest dealers to me, to see what they had available, and one had a car in stock that was cheaper than the scrappage deal, though not exactly the same specifications. Coupled with the fact that the "in stock" vehicle could be on the road in very few days (my existing vehicle was very unreliable) I took what was available now and a bit cheaper, hence I started this thread, because along the way I found that within three days the best scrappage price, either dealer could offer had increased by nearly £1,000)
So I guess the procedure is having decided what vehicle one wants, ask the suppliers what they have for what prices and what delivery dates. I also wanted to deal locally if possible, believing that generally I am more likely to get good service from a company that knows I am a possible future customer and that I am likely to be in contact with other local potential customers. I think with car traders reputation is very important.Andrew S Hatton0
