I'm not sure what the comparison is based on, but it seems to have carefully ignored their rivals' inclusive minute packages or off-peak tariffs, and be highly economical with other facts
Easymobile tell me that 200 minutes on O2 would cost £54. As we nearly all know, O2 give 100 free minutes on £10 top-up, which easy neglect to mention, thus implying they expect the second 100 minutes to cost £54 - there is no such tariff on O2. Even worse, a £15 top-up on O2 gives this 100 minutes and an off-peak bundle as well, and the credit value to spend at from 5p per minute. It is quite feasible to get several hundred minutes on O2 for £15
I think the easy challenge is highly misleading, doesn't have any suggestion of what to do if you find cheaper tariffs elsewhere, so seems like an empty promise. I would not be surprised if the other networks complained about it; on the other hand they probably don't see a network with a few thousand subscribers as a threat.
Not at all. Try redoing your challenge and selecting the correct tariff, o2 online, and then try reading what it says underneath. It is not ignoring the rivals packages at all, but in fact explains them. :cool:0 -
Regarding PACs. They do not charge to get one but you must "officially" either request a PAC or close the account otherwise they will keep trying to get the 75p each month even when you run out of credit.
If you have a credit of well over £5 it may be worth asking for a refund cheque but as they charge £5.00 for it you may as well use up most of the credit and then just go through the process via the site (put a Zero in place of your ban account details or else they will charge you for refunding any sum so you coul dend up owing them for a so-called refund).
Basically ask for a PAC if you want the number or simply close it if you don't. Whateve you do, don't just leave it dorment.0 -
Any views on Tesco mobile, either extra or UK only SIMs? I rang them and they claimed they would not be changing their tariff any time soon. On Extra, 10p per min and 5p text for 15 pound topup.
Being newly back here, how often do the likes of O2 etc change their PAYG tariffs? As PACs are free assume can port my easy no around networks to take advantage of the best tariffs? I don't want to keep changing no, nor do I want a 18 month contract.
Thank you. Sorry about all the qs.

You have to work out how you use you phone to enable you to work out the cheapest supplier. Whether you mainly text or call, call the same few numbers, call landlines or mobiles etc etc. With that info it makes the choice easier. In my circumstance virgin proves to be the cheapest (esp. when I just use the £5 free sims to make outgoing calls).Originally Posted by richardjames73

I'm with easyMobile and find them adequate for my needs (light user), the only problem i have is coverage but then again i do live on the Isle of Lewis.0

ok - but it still says £31.50 for 200 minutes, when the first 100 is free. It is possible to use an O2 SIM to make 300 minutes of calls a month, of which 100 minutes are mobiles, for £11.30. Or £15 to £19 can be used for over 500 minutesrichardjames73 wrote:Not at all. Try redoing your challenge and selecting the correct tariff, o2 online, and then try reading what it says underneath. Is it cheaper than using a foreign SIM card at from 5p to 20p per minute, with free incoming calls?[/QUOTE
my apologies! No, not that cheap!...I cannot re-call the exact rates,as it was a P.A.Y.G phone there was no itemisation.I rang the C.P.W.0800 number followed the links to Fresh cust servs...Rates were around 40p/minute after 7pm...60p/minute daytime, texts were 30p to send 0p to receive, but still way cheaper than any of the big rivals.Sorry i cant be any more help than that, this was Sept'05 when we went to Lanzarote, the signal was excellent throughout.never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0
