we have the above phone on contract taken out with Orange Shop which has developed the "red light" syndrome, switching off, resetting itself etc.

This initially happened a couple of months into the contract so off we went to the shop only to be advised to flash it via a web update which was duly done.

The phone has again started to act up again doing the same thing so I wrote to the shop & Orange letting them know what has happened stating the Supply of Goods Act etc and that we would like it repaired. I got no reply so went in to speak to the manager who told me his phone does the same thing and that we would have to pay £15 for postage & Insurance to get it sent off to Orange who would only do what we did on the web update. My reply was to ask what if it comes back with the same problem? Answer; it has to go back 3 times for the same problem for Orange to exchange it.

Now I dont mind sending it back but dont see why I have to fork out £15 once, never mind 3 times, when they knew of the fault with SE W910i when they sold it us, its just daylight robbery.

Apparantly it is an inherent software fault in most SE phones and its in the lap of the gods as to whether or not you get one which does this, my other SE phone doesn't.

the problem is the crappy software that orange load onto the phone with the firmware.

if it had generic SE software installed, i'm sure you wouldn't have most of the problems you are having.

My other phone is also on orange, admittedly PAYG but i dont think that should matter, this one is my daughters and we wouldn't mind paying the P&P if they were to do something other than what i have been doing.

A Nokia developer once said they spend 6 man-years developing the phones software - and the operators spend a few days !!!!ing it up :(

The GF has a pink w910i, and it keeps crashing. Keep meaning to flash it with the generic firmware - when I did this on my O2 W960i it really sped things up.

    Hi
I also have the dreaded W910i!!
I am on the 4th handset I think as Orange kept changing it as it was sooo faulty.
I had enough in October time I think and phoned up Orange and they advised me to send it off to SE, which I did and it came back - no faults recorded, started using it and the same again! So I have gone back to my W880i and which is 2 years old, not very good battery life now and has snapped somehow but it still works!!
Due for upgrade next month dunno what to get!

Contacted SE who have sent a message requesting it to be returned to them, via their freepost address, turn around time 3-5 days which I will believe once I get it back. Have to copy receipt to prove its within their warranty, which it certainly is as it was only purchased last October.

I know Christina has dealt with them with no luck but its worth a go.

Def worth a go, but unfortunately didn't work for me was ok for about 6 weeks after then started again and by that time it was out of warranty.

after sending letter to Orange saying it wasn't fit for purpose they have rung back and offered to upgrade to a new phone, anything off their website but will have to pay towards some phones, but sign an 18 mnth contract which is what we had anyway.

Daughter wants a decent camera phone with touch screen, any ideas??

My son has a w910i on O2. We bought it from the carphone warehouse, we are now on handset 3 and had previous ones 'repaired', CPW have a policy of exchanging a handset when it has been in for repair 3 times. They obviously know there is a problem with this handset as they allow you to have a NEW one so easily. Every time you have a new handset the repair goes back to Zero, so you have to wait longer to get a replacement with a different model, I guess lots of people give up and change theirs anyway. I am determined my son will get a different handset replacement. I am awaiting a call to confirm by Monday, all being well.
This is after 13 visits to the shop. Good customer service, I dont think!!!
