well hopefully it's going to come back and bite them in the !!!!!!!

(sounds like it might with Black Saturn and Trading Standards on the case)

    :D:D:D:D
  • Wow! Just read your posts black_saturn and am completely amazed at what has happened.

Genuine mistakes do sometimes happen but when this is the case the company are usually falling over themselves to explain why the mistake happened. With this...well this is just soooo bad. It must be causing you so much grief and so much time must have been wasted in trying to sort this out.

If they'd explained in full and apologised in the first instance then you'd have still have been annoyed but you wouldn't have increased your phone bill in trying to sort this out. I wish you ALL the best in trying to get this sorted and at least Trading Standards haven't fobbed you off. You've got someone on your side. Sue them for ALL you can.

Will keep an eye on this. A very interesting case. Good luck.

I've just caught up with this thread. I'm astonished at the couldn't care less attitude of these people!

They haven't even had the courtesy to write you a proper letter, let alone an apology!

BTW do keep on at Trading Standards. I made a complaint last year. A very helpful lady took all sorts of info, gave me a reference number and promised to look into it. I never heard anything further......
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

They made the mistake so they should compensate you with an equivelent holiday. How dare they treat you this way. GO TO THE PRESS and shame them.
Hope you get things sorted, you most be so annoyed.

Be persistant. I won a luxury weekened break in the lake district last year with a well known magazine (post card entry). The letter told me to phone the hotel and book. The hotel said they had never been approached by the promoters. I spent several days phoning pr company who had handled competition, the magazine and eventually the local tourist board who were the stated promoters. I was also told some error had been made. Evetually I got my holiday - and it was wonderful.

I booked a holiday once, one the way to the airport, they rang m e and told me to go to a different airport.I recovered 75% of my holiday cost through the small claims court.Find out which trade association or governing body they are a member of,they are almost certainly in breach of their associations rules.i did a quick google and a tnt i found is part of the guardian media group (try ringing up an speaking to them,if this is correct)When i was awarded money from the county court but the company was slow to pay, their governing body ,made them pay straight away. In addition .. get someone else to ring them up,say they have a complaint, ask for details of their official complaints procedure.I think you will get somewhere. They have obviously made a big blunder and are hoping you will just go away if they ignore you.Make sure you keep a log of all times ,days you spoke to someone, and make sure you get their name, even the receptionist. At a If you manage to have a significant conversation, where they admit something you think is critical, inform them,at the end,you have recorded the conversation, and also all the conversations where you have left messages with the receptionist..This is legal see https://www.retellrecorders.co.uk/legal/home.htm check with data protection commission. if you want to be sure, but i have tested this out several times.Bear in mind once you say this, they may refuse to speak to you again,so choose your moment with care.Go get em.

Good luck Black Saturn I am shocked and appalled at this, I really do hope you get something in the end. Everyone needs a break and after this a strong drink or two as well. Do keep us posted with Trading Standards....
