I think it depends on the airline - some prefer to spend more on food than others - great ones are Air NZ, Singapore - can't comment on Virgin. Regarding special diets, it is often the airline caterer rather than the airline that provide a "job lot" of special menus to cover all dietary requirements.0 -

Surely everyone knows that they use special eggs on airplanes. They are laid by genetically modified chickens and are square shape so the dont roll around during turbulance0 -

Not at all, infact from your recent Vegas report we seem to eat at most of the same places over there, I just do not like airplane food (even the smell of it) must just be us.
