will it work with linux?
Ubuntu? It's probably the only version that will check here for some nice techy infonow i need the thingy to use cig lighter in car for power..... help
Now you've got me... I know Maplin have a 70w one for a shade under twenty quid
which won't work with mine. I'd need the 120w one
You'll probably be better off with an inverter if you have the lower power.
Every now and then, people put great deals up for inverters like this one. It was dead cheap at £15!The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

this free three dongle is the subject of today's daily express anti inflation tip of the day with a link to moneymagpieexpress which then routes through to the micro peripherals site where you register and get the voucher code etc. doubt if express newspaper would back it if it was dodgy. have ordered mine. take the earlier point about vodafone dongle not having an expiry date on usage - but they seem to charge a whopping £15 per gb, whereas the time limited ones from 3 and O2 etc you get 3gb for £15 - suppose it depends on what your usage is likely to be.0

Would the DCUnlocker (or maybe another unlcoker) enable this 3 dongle to work as if it were the Vodafone PAYG dongle ?
Many thanks in advance for answer.Coincidence is The Lord's way of remaining anonymous0 -

I have unlocked the vodafone dongle using DCUnlocker, I think this dongle is the same model number so it should work. It will enable you to use any sim, but you'll have to use the HUAWEI mobile partner software instead of the bundled software. You have to manually configure the settings in this software for each sim (using gprs settings available on the web). But AFAIK, you can't buy pay as you go data sims, you certainly can't buy the vodafone one. Most of the ones sold on ebay are really mobile sims, which you shouldn't use in a laptop. Although these sims may work, they may restrict speed to 384Kbps, downloaded images may be compressed, & you'd be breaking the T&C's of the mobile operator. I have read on other forums people buying o2 Iphone sims from ebay, which give you 12 months free browsing, but I wouldn't do this myself because if o2 detects you're not using the sim in an iphone, they may cancel it, & may make hefty charges (not sure how they would though as the sim's payg).
I had unlocked my vodafone dongle, planning to buy a 3 sim for when I require heavy usage, but it's been easier & cheaper to just buy this dongle aswell, so now I have the choice. If i'd have known about this deal I wouldn't have bothered. Unlocking the dongle costs £15, & the vodafone dongle comes with £15 of credit. As the vodafone dongle only costs £29 after quidco, if you really want the option of using vodafone aswell you'd be best to just buy this dongle aswell.Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -
Derek, it's not the same model. This is not a Huawei modem. DCUnlocker will work on this modem, though. You have to pay for it - around £15. If you buy an E220 Huaewei modem, it's relatively easy and free to unlock using software available on the net - so no £15 and no DCUnlocker. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
