Hi fluff,
I usually dry fry mine as the mince contains enough fat, but they should be fine in the oven.
There are some lovely meatball recipes on this thread:

When using the pale coloured minces I add a couple of drops of gravy browning to get the correct colour and when I am adding bread, onion, stuffing mix, rusk or egg etc. I put all the ingredients into a stout bowl and get stuck in with my old style tatty masher, it only takes a few seconds to combine everything.

flufff wrote:Ive just got 3 packs beef mince through r&r today. Can I ask about the meatballs?I dont like frying food. Will they bake in the oven or will that make them flatten and spread? Many thanks
I always do my meat balls in the oven, on a very low setting. No fat needed, and I just drain off any juices that come out. This way I can leave them alone, and don't need to keep turning, and the frying smells go up the flue.
As for pork mince we love "pork and carrot".
Fry onion and garlic till soft. Add minced pork, and continue cooking until browned. Add tinned toms, black pepper, grated carrot (lots), and cook in the oven or on top until the mince is tender. I usually do a couple of hors in the oven on a low setting.
Serve with pasta spirals, fresh oregano, and lots of parmesan.

Hi, Pond!
One of our favourites is pork and Carrot pasta sauce. Soften a chopped onion, garlic, chilli, in oil. Add mince and brown. Add grated carrot (about 4 for 500g mince) and a tin of tomatoes. Simmer for about 1 hour. Season with oreagno, and serve with pasta twists and plenty of black pepper and parmesan.

I like cooking minced pork with an apple, garlic and paprika and making meat balls. Or I make it into a pie with a suet pastry. (Or for stuffing cabbage leaves). Very nice to make burgers with too.
You can treat the pork mince like any other, so make anything you would with beef or lamb mince - it's also quite common in spain to mix 50/50 with beef mince to make a lighter dish.0 -
Make it into small balls with onions and chopped apricots, cook and then serve with a sweetish sauce (soy sauce, honey, garlic etc) and rice. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0
