top tip for the supermarket jobs.

the first time i did one i did everything by the book i spent ages walking around looking for people to ask the questions to, second time i clicked no-one was in the department and the questionaire skips that whole section. if no-one is around to ask easily i carry on to the next section.

also, try to go later in the evenings as the cafe is usually shut so you can miss that bit out as well.

once you have done one you will see they aren't too bad - you will defnatley need a pen and paper though!

Right I am dealing now with RE. Firsly I phoned and told them the website is down again. They disoute this and say it IS working. So can some of you try and log in and post what you get.

Coincidentally I went to a RE chemist and the girl was giggling about MS'ers, I said "Whats a MS'er??? She said we know who they are as they ask for hay fever tablets and advice on weight reduction. She has several friends who work for this shemist and 1 shopper was thin as a rake so it looked odd her asking for weight reduction. She joked they might as well have I am mystery shopper tatooed on the forehead.
So the account holder of this job is going to phone me back to discuss this. As I tolf RE about this and pointed out how stupid the scenario is and are they happy we are identified by the obvious scenario.

I would welcome any input on this, Maybe they will say we should go in with padding and wear 6 coats to look fat.

Oh no, I'm doing mine this afternoon. I'm going to feel like a real idiot. Didn't really want to take this job but I want to get rid of my probabtion status. You live and learn.

    Hey folks!

I am due to due my first MS this weekend at an airport. Two questions really
    1. How can I get the info to them within 24 hours? When im going on holiday....
    2. Its with TNS and the area is not my normal regional managers so I have been dealing with someone else. Is it the regional manager for that area or my own one that I contact? Im a little apprehensive about asking them direct as worry they'll think im useless!

    Thank you in advance!

I'd contact the AM for the area which the job is in. Ask them about submiting info etc (didn't you think of this or ask about it before accepting a job?). They're nice at TNS and won't think you're useless.

They've not had the courtesy to let you know?! I wouldn't have thought they owe you any courtesy at all bearing in mind you failed to follow the instructions - I'd suggest you're lucky to have kept the three they left you with. You've created more work for them because somebody has had to go round checking accounts and has had to delete them for you - then you expect them to spend more time emailing you too?

    Sorry... but ARGH!

I read what I felt I needed to - what bank, what date, what time, what the enquiry is. That's it, I'll take the job and read the rest later.

Surely the system is equally at fault for allowing me to take multiple jobs?
At the end of the day, we're doing the MSing companies a favour by doing the job, ok, they pay us for doing [some of] the jobs, but we're still choosing whether or not to work for them. Without us, they would have no business. It's just a shame that some of them forget this.

Agreed! I really do think I will boycott these jobs after this one. I'm actually tempted to cancel it anyway because it now conflicts with somewhere else I'd like to go, but I don't like to cancel unless absolutely necessary.

And then the worst is buying a bar of chocolate for about 39p in the garage... and asking for the receipt!!!! :rotfl:

Oh these are dead simple to do - its my biggest monthly client this one. The print outs are only half relevant and the jobs are not that scary in my opinion. They can't be, I'm doing over a dozen this month alone ......! One month a couple of years ago I managed to bag nearly 25 outlets in 2 weeks - it was great!

The jobs got a lot easier when they stopped insisiting on re-visting departments to see if you could find staff. Also, the smaller versions of the shop, not the fast train service once, have now introduced cut down questionairres as well which helps.

I agree they are not that scary once you've done one. The problem is that the questionnaire is so generic it covers absolutely everything and I always find it difficult to work out what I actually need to do. When I have a few to do, it's only the first one that is a problem because after that I've seen the report and know exactly what they are looking for. I really don't see what harm there would be in letting us see the report before we do the job like just about every other MS company does.

To be honest, on this one it's not so much the departments that bother me, it's the 'extras' like checking if specific leaflets are available (generally not where I expect them to be - I asked once and they were amongst the food, not at the till where I'd expected), and checking notice boards (that may or may not be on the report), that kind of thing.

As someone pointed out the fee for these is not much more than for the fast ones, where you have a lot less to worry about!

Thanks to all who commented about the TNS supermarket job. Why can't they just let us print off a copy of the questionnaire we'll be filling in rather than a general one which is actually of s*d all use?

I just applied to tns, can anyone remember how long it takes before they get back to you?
