    Morning all
I got a copy of the spreadsheet last night -and I love it. Spent ages playing with it-but I have a question. Mileage-I do most of my MSs by public transport-but it's looking like it makes more sense to claim the mileage amount for tax purposes overall rather than fares. Is this likely to give me any issues with the taxman as I don't currently own a car ?

Yippe - a nice new thread - love the smilies BTW lol.

HP - it's an AmberArch job that I'm doing. They got back to me anyway so at least I know they reimburse everything. BTW when do they pay. First page says a few days after receiving the report. I did one for them about 2½ weeks ago but no payment yet. Should I drop them a line?

Can anyone give me some information on BARE flights? They appear, disappear and reappear again. I keep applying for one, it shows as pending for a while and then disappears. How does it all work?
Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

I'm not sure how deeply the Inland Revenue will look into whether or not you own a car - but bear in mind the 40p per mile that many of us claim for mileage is a figure chosen to cover not just the fuel used, but also wear and tear on the car, a portion of road tax, insurance etc. I think perhaps you shouldn't claim the full 40p per mile if you are using public transport, but I may be wrong. I guess if MPs can claim 20p per mile for using a bike then who knows????? ;)

I remember this being discussed before, some time ago, so I'm sure there will be someone more knowledgeable than me along soon to answer you properly.

PS Hopefully this post will bump the thread to the top because as the moment the old one is higher on the page and it's going to get confusing!

EDIT: It didn't work - the old thread has a sticky so it's still at the top!!!

Hi Flyer. The BARE flights are very popular. You need to apply for the job but if you don't get it it will disappear from your log. You usually need to do about 10-15 jobs for BARE getting on average an 8 score before they will consider you for the job. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will tell me - Blindman I think has done a few flight jobs for them so he may be able to help out if he pops on the board. HTH.
