Ohh - inlaws for dinner - hope they aren't tough - will it be HP or tomato sauce with them and have you got a plate big enough
:D:o:D:D - sorry I've been working with kids who take things literally for way too long!!!!
Enjoy sharing a meal with the in laws - what are you having.
MilannJanuary spends - £587.580 -
you'd have to take an antidote first before you considered having my MIL for dinner. Sorry that was mean and below me.0

LOL at inlaw eating - with or without sauces and antidotes :rotfl:
Meal went fine, and time at the beach was lovely - sadly DS2 declined to get out of bed - I do believe that he intended to come with us; he'd taken the time of work when he really needs the money, but when it came to the crunch just couldn't get up. So-o-o-o disappointing.
When we were walking through one of the towns with the youngsters they dived into a shop and I spied a lovely necklace in the window - different coloured pearls and silver, for £10. OH said oh lets go and look at it while we're waiting for them - then he bought it for me!!! I was so surprised - and pleased - its gorgeous.
The 3 are intending to go off together late afternoon, DS2 is going to show off his driving abilities (something he can do that they can't) and take them somewhere. Then DS1 is back to Uni tomorrow.
Money-wise  I'd forgotten about the cam-belt £350 needed and don't think we'll be able to do it this month - OH is not going to be pleased. We've been a bit slack over the last few days (with the kids home) and have spent quite a bit of money - lunches out and bits and pieces that have not been at all MSE. I also made a careless and annoying mistake - transferring money to Barclaycard (which is cleared) rather than play.com. Fortunately b'card have said they can transfer it back to my bank account - I think I was quite lucky.
Today I'm going to finish the last two mystery shops, make some hobnobs and go through the fridge & cupboards to see if I can manage without shopping for a few more days.
Cheers all

A quick update...
Kids went out last night and had a great time by all accounts, and got back safely with my little car in one piece thank goodness. DS1 is going back today, and DD going back Thursday. DS2 has another 10 days or so.
All is as to be expected on the money front. The bank account is catching up with the last few day's expenses, money springing from all directions like a leaky bucket.
Today I must take stock in the kitchen and meal plan etc. I've made hobnobs and carrot cake (it was funny to see DS heading out smuggling HM cake :rotfl:).
Not a lot needs doing around the house; as I've been at home so much I think I've pottered and kept it quite together. My voluntary work, on the other hand, is much neglected and I've set aside Saturday for that when OH is away.
Back to work 'properly' tomorrow, although I worked 2 days last week I knew I had a bit more of a gap coming up and it didn't feel like I was really back. If I'm honest I don't think I'm working anywhere near as hard as I could be, not sure what that is about.

Sounds like you had a lovely time with kids. You'll soon pull back the extras you spent - sometimes it just has to be done - not MSE I know but life has to be lived sometimes - well thats my excuse occasionally!!January spends - £587.580

I agree with milann - sometimes you have to let the budget go. At least you've had a great time! Had to smile at your DS sneaking out the cake. Lads eat and eat and eat don't they. My DS still looks in the fridge and food cupboards when he comes round and will take anything edible off my hands if it's not wanted.
Have a good weekend!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I had a really quiet day yesterday - OH is at camp and DS2 at work and then at a party and out all night.
I potted on some of my plants that were looking like they were too big and growing together - this was a mistake, what I should have done was pull out the weaker of the two in each 'plug' and discard. I couldn't face doing that - I'll have to toughen up for next year lol! I ended up with so many tiny plants that I put 2 sweet peas and 4 spinach plants in my new raised bed, covered them last night and they are still standing this morning! The carrots and lettuce I sowed 3 weeks ago hasn't come to anything so I put some more in.
Money wise, I've looked at bank accounts and done some comps and clicks, no surprises nice or nasty there. But hmmm, a confession.... I was tempted by the Waitrose voucher and spent £66 on groceries (after £10 voucher)! This will be for two weeks - although we'll need some more fruit for the second week. It is such lovely stuff and comes so nicely packed...
I've run the hoover round, done the washing and I just need to work out how to pot roast beef (cheapie from Morrisons before easter) which is for the others for tea, and then I think I've done all I need to do today, so a chilled day of pottering in the garden, reading my book and a cycle over to the shop to get some carrots as we've run out of veggies.

lol i'm just like you, i can't bear to take out the weeker seedling, i have to try and save as many as possible.
We got some seeds in pots last night, two lots of toms, aubergines, spinich and peppers.today i'm on a quest to find my courgette seeds.0 -
We've got courgettes here - I planted 6 seeds in little pots (phew, no thinning) and 5 have come up. Realistically I only want 2 plants as we haven't got that much space. The seedlings are huge! All else in the garden is ok so far, the carrots have started to come up in the raised bed and the seedlings are going out into the plastic cold frame (another early birthday present, but its rubbish - plastic has split in two places and the zip has broken ) all day and in at night - they get more fuss and care than OH + the cats!
Money all is ok.. no surprises. I'm going to be very close to DFD at the end of the week, provided money comes through from edigital and job #2 - will total around £350. I think I am going to pay the whole credit card off though from my current account (avoiding CC charges) and if I can't find the money from somewhere my current account may go slightly overdrawn until payday at the end of next week. It means I'll have no money at all to spend but - what's new there! :rotfl:
Cheers all
