Cancelled wedding

Yes I see. That all looks fine then. You may not receive a response and therefore you will be faced with starting an action to recover the deposit plus whatever level of compensation you arrive at, if indeed the new venue ends up costing more for a similar arrangement that you had planned with the bogus venue.
I think that this act will largely cover you: Supply of Goods and Services Act 19820 -

Have you informed the brewery of the dispute.
If you cannot get a venue for reception and civil cermony you should be able to get in at the council's registrars office and then go onto a reception else where.
I wouldn't want my wedding now at the disputed place as they will probably spit in the food.

Thanks. Not sure about the kiss or the pint. I've never drunk a pint in my life, but I do like sweets!Oh, thank you!! I have been trying to find the relevant statute which this falls under all day! I could kiss you, but my fiance might object, so better not. Here's a pint instead :beer:0 -

Unfortunately it is unlikely the brewery will be interested, as Stuart & Lisa are in there as tenants, not managers.
The business is on a leasehold, so as long as the brewery receive their rent, they do not get involved in the affairs of the business itself.
Stuart & Lisa are expected to run the business, pay the rent and keep the profits (can't see them making a lot treating people like this though).
If they were managers, the brewery would pay them a salary and keep the profits themselves, therefore they would then be concerned with any affairs impacting upon said profits.
We have two venues able to accommodate us for both the ceremony & reception and we will begin liaising with them this week.
As for spitting in the food, that is only a small part of what I believe they could be capable of.0 -
I think weddings are stressful enough, try to limit the stress here.Move on as quick as you can,0

At the very least you should find one of the review sites and give them a shocking review for the poor meal you had, and let others know that they can expect cold undercooked food and poor service!
When the pub changed hands, it probably would have been a good idea at that point to speak to the new owners and discuss the arrangement, as obviously there would have been some feelings of resentment there!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
You need to write to them to advise that they are in breach of contract by purporting to cancel the wedding reception.
The Supply of Goods and Services Act doesn't seem particularly relevant at this point as it doesn't really apply to cancellation of services without authority.
Put them on notice that you are left with no choice but to attempt to find an alternative venue. Further, any additional costs will be for their own account.
You are able to bank the cheque providing you tell them that you are doing so on account of their liability and that it is not in full and final settlement.
How much was the full price of the reception going to be?0 -
this sounds a bit premeditated to me, do you think this was done to you deliberately? they obviously had a grudge against your dad, the whole cold food and bad service etc, may have been a deliberate act to cause the confrontation and give them what they wanted, to cancel your day? they seem very petty people to me and i wouldnt touch that venue with a barge pole, you go elsewhere and congrats to you both and hope your day is everything you wished for xx0
