in Credit cards
Hi all,
Sorry I wasnt sure which section to post this in. I recently applied for a phone contract with O2. It was refused which I was shocked by as I was unaware of any adverse credit. I requested a credit report with Equifax which came back fine. I have only 1 credit card which has always been up to date and my existing phone contract which again is perfect. When I contacted O2 directly they refused to give me a reason saying they are not at liberty to make their credit policy public knowledge and would not tell me the reason why?
Can I request this information? Do I have any rights under the Data Protection Act?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the fast reply. I did email them to look into it and that is when they said they would not tell me.
CreditFileReferrals@o2.com
Thats the email address I sent it to.
Its frustrating because there is nothing untoward on my credit file. I know about credit scores etc too but is there any way I can get them to give me the reason??
Thanks0 -

Are you on the Electoral Roll?
This seems to be causing me a problem with O2. Because I'm waiting for Equifax to update the Electoral Roll.0 -

No I haven't sent an appeal as yet. When I do I'm going to ask Innocent what he said to them.
BTW what did you say to them Innocent to get the decision overturned?0 -

Yep. When I initially applied with them this appeared to be the problem. Equifax had not updated my details when I checked even though I had recieved a letter from the council. I sent the letter to Equifax who in turn updated my credit file. When I reapplied with O2 they still declined it....
They were able to confirm to me that the initial application was declined because of the electoral roll thing but would not tell me why the second application was declined. :mad:0 -

Perhaps you need to strengthen your credit file, try applying for a Vanquis, Aqua or Capital One card.0
