MSE logging of posters' IP Address

Am I correct to assume MSE log my IP Address for each post ( for a variety of reasons) and would make such data available to the appropriate authorities having been asked for it in the correct, legally sanctioned, way??

Cheers & Best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me..

Indeed it's all logged, say if you lived in Germany and used Linux - that would be logged too. I think screen size and the last page you were on are logged too

why would you worry if you were posting in the correct manner and not being nasty to anyone?

As has been said all forum software logs visitor IPs. So does the server it runs on. Plus your ISP by law logs every web site you visit.

The simplest waay around this is to use an anonymous proxy (google is your friend here) The proxy of course will also log your visit but those logs may not be readily available to whoever is interested in tracking your actiities. I wouldn't bet the farm on that though.

Source please. I'm having trouble finding such a law on Google, and it sounds very unrealistic.
