Hello ladies (and gents)

Hoping you don't mind if I keep my wedding diary on here, there's so much going on at the moment and we're still over a year away!

So far I have:

Bought the dress:

Monsoon, £160 - have bought in a size slightly too big as they were all about to go back to the factory. Hoping to buy the size smaller on Ebay or if not, get this one altered. It's only a tiny bit big so if I fail in all of that I will just add the detachable straps to ensure it stays up!

Asked my friend to be a bridesmaid - waiting for her to find out whether her boyfriend will be celebrating his 30th birthday that weekend or the weekend after.

Made many many enquiries at venues. We want something small, so we are so far thinking the following:

Marriage at Kendal registry office, around 1.30pm

Reception meal at Lucy4 in Bowness-on-Winderemere. around 4.00pm

A sunset cruise on Lake Windermere, hopefully on one of these:

However we haven't booked any of this yet as we are waiting to hear back from Lucy4 about the private hire, so the date isn't confirmed yet.

I have also started to design my invitations/save the date cards, and picked out my wedding ring (£25 from Argos, how MSE!). Also set up a weddingpath website but nothing done to it yet as nothing is confirmed.

Any tips/tricks/advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Your dress is gorgeous! Is that the colour you have it in..it's lovely!

I love the idea of a cruise, very relaxing.

You seem to have everything in place, and be very organised.

When do you hope to get married?

Yes, that's the only colour it comes in. I've had my eye on it for ages then went in to try it on on Saturday and they were all in the stock room ready to go back, eeek! It's not on the website any more either.

Hoping for Saturday June 5th 2010 but obviously that all depends on availability. Lucy4 have a roof terrace that seats 25-30 people and then a room attached that seats another 50 so our guest list is currently fluctuating between 25 and 80 people! :D

Quick update - managed to find the correct size dress in another branch, hooray! Will take the other one back but still keep an eye on Ebay just in case a bargain appears in the 28 days I have available to take the new one back.

Edit: Here is Lucy4 from the front:

And here's the roof terrace - although it will have a proper roof on it by the wedding reception:

We're going up to the lakes at the end of this month so will stop off on the way and make sure it's as nice as we remember!

This is the dress I would like for the evening part:

Doesn't it just match Lucy4's colour scheme beautifully?! ;)

    Hi all

Just spoke to Lynn at Kendal Registry office who said that the date I want is clear at the moment, but if I was to book now there would be a £50 non-refundable deposit (not then redeemed against the notice of marriage or the registrar fees). If I call and book on 5th June this year it will be free.

So, a question - would you risk it?

if you have the money i would book it, June is a popular month to get married, as are all the summer months. So if you can afford it then do it, otherwise you will be gutted if it gets booked up!

Lovely restaurant btw, lovely colours! Nice and quaint.

£50 is a small price to pay for such a good date (even if you do ever have to change it - fingers crossed you dont) Being in the industry June - August are my most busiest months! which means I find it hard to book summer holidays lol!

Usually dates like that would have gone by now (alot of the brides I deal with are booked a year in advance!)

Right. We now think we may move to April 2010. How do people think this sounds:

11.30am - Marriage ceremony at Kendal Registry Office

3.00pm - 5.00pm - cruise on Lake Windermere with buffet and bar

7.00pm- late - tapas and drinks at Lucy4 in Bowness.

Kendal is about 10 miles from Bowness so I thought that would allow people time to get back, time for us to have photos beforehand, and also a nice time if people can't make the actual ceremony (most people will be coming from Manchester so that might be a bit early).

Then the landing dock is not far from Lucy4 so that would give people an hour to get there and maybe pop back to their hotel if they wanted to comb their hair after the wind on the boat!

Do you think people would be starving by the time the buffet part started on the boat? Is there anything else I can do? Would I be allowed to leave small boxes on the registry office chairs with a packet of crisps and a piece of fruit in?!
