Hi all, I've decided to join because I need to!:xmastree::xmastree::xmastree:

Anyway, I posted on last week's thread yesterday and Toottifrootti has already kindly welcomed me and explained all the rules, so I think I know what I'm doing. I gather that a new day's tasks are posted each day, so we decide on a daily basis what to do, is that correct?

Also, I'm back at work tomorrow so plan to do a fair bit today (I was up at 7.30 ready to go, and there's already a load in the washing machine - never thought I'd hear myself say that!), but I don't know what's coming up. So if I list what I'm planning today and it comes up later in the week, does that mean I can cross it off for that day? And what if I do some of the tasks for each level but not the rest? For example, I completely stripped the bed yesterday and washed everything, including the mattress cover, and I aired the pillows and duvet, but I didn't hoover or turn the mattress - do I still cross the task off? And I'm planning to dust and vacuum the bedroom but I don't need to tidy the cupboard and I won't have time to do the windows or door frames (I want to sort out the rest of the flat!) so how does that work? I know I'm not supposed to remove tasks just cos I don't want to do them! But surely some is better than none? And how do I remove tasks that aren't applicable to me (e.g. I don't have stairs so no hand rail) - do I just delete them?

And it looks like this is about more than cleaning, as in people list all the jobs they need to do as their 'extras', is that right?

    Thanks!

Hi Lizzy, sounds like you already know what to do there... Yes, substitute what you can't do like the stairs for something else if you can - little and often like anything is the way to go - if you do too much you will get worn out and not make the end of the week.

Also, if you have a big decluttering job to do, it can get disheartening when you have done loads, but still can't see much improvement (I know when I started decluttering, there was so much coming out of cupboards, etc, that there was more on the floor after I had done than when I started...)

As everyone has said, babysteps, if you have a good day and get loads done, great, just don't expect to be superwoman every day.

I like to list my extras as if I leave them on there for a few weeks I get nagged and then I actually do them (people do look... ;) it's called 'encouragement' too, not nagging...:rotfl:) but also, putting them on there week after week makes YOU look at them and get them done, plus crossing things off is not only addictive but really gives you a boost when you do it.

Oh, and you don't have to read everyones posts and keep up if you can't do that - I sometimes manage when I'm working from home as I'm usually on the computer and pop in between work, but when I'm working away, I can never keep up and my flying time would all be spent on here - no-one minds if you can't catch up, just join back in when you can and let us know how you're doing - this is a support network too, and everyone will support you as you go.

It's great fun and these are some of the best women/men I know in helping each other through whatever they need help with - it might be a madhouse but it's a lovely madhouse...;):D

OK, OK, a pile of washing is now on and I'm getting back on with the paperwork...:o

    Morning all

I'm in again. Today should be relatively straightforward as I did the bedroom yesterday - I'll make the most of the extra time to do bits that usually get left, like my work rucksack which is under the bed!

I'm off to go and catch up with last week's thread - DH still in bed so i can't start the bedroom yet. The plan for today is to chill, do a top up shop and I think we'll have a roast and a bottle of wine tonight.

    welcome to all the newbies.

    wow

    Hi to all the newbies.

Just remember it is not a race, do what you can and use the lists as a guide, it has helped me no end, now the whole week takes very little time, but it has taken me several months to get it this way, my main thing was getting rid of the clutter, made life so much better

Ditto that - I'm exactly the same...
and some of my clutter included ornaments that were hanging round, needed dusting and I didn't even particularly like them...so I charity shopped them (quicker than e bay and less stressful than carbooting IMHO)

    Morning all!

Lil_me re the compost - you dont HAVE to 'do' anything but if you are putting in a good mix of wet and dry stuff (eg shredded paper, sawdust from cages etc) and turn the heap it speeds up rotting. And if you have a beer drinking man you can add 'recycled beer' ;) apparently very good for the heap!
I find both grass clippings and sawdust 'clump' together so turning really helps. I have those wide at the bottom bins so I just lift them, put them down empty and shovel the contents back in. But then creepy crawlies don't bother me.
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

Morning all. We have a little sunshine inbetween the cloud, but at least it's dry and warmish. Towels are drying out on the line and another load of washing is in.

soappie - glad your eye seems ok

The bedroom floor is clear, but I need to do some more of the list before I head to the church May Fayre.

    Good morning everyone
Please can I join in too. Been wanting to get on top of my housework for absolutely ages and then do a little bit each day to keep on top of it rather then spending all weekend cleaning, washing, ironing etc! My plan was to do a massive spring clean and then ask to join in here to keep on top of things...........................but the massive spring clean has not happened, so I figured maybe I should just see if I can join in and I will get on top of things in time?! That's the plan anyway. So, can I please join in at level one and if I can manage any extra I will.
Thank you all so much for being so inspiring.
And apologies if I am doing this all wrong, but I think I post a Christmas tree to get my name added and just the one as I on Level One, so here goes! Like I say, sorry if this is all wrong!
    Thank you all.
