The 'fine' arrived today £75 or £40 if paid within 14 days. I went to see my parents and begged them to let me deal with it and have it all sent to my address, but I am afraid the 'fine' letter convinced them to pay straight away. It was very threatening and it mentioned debt collectors, additional charges and people coming to the house. I tried really hard, but they wouldn't budge, in the end my step father insisted that it was their own fault and they would just have to pay it. They were not even willing to appeal because they were afraid of ending up with more costs. I feel so frustrated and angry about the whole situation.

    UK PARKING CONTROL LIMITED
    THE MERIDIAN
    4 COPTHALL HOUSE STATION SQUARE
    COVENTRY
    WEST MIDLANDS
    CV1 2FL
    Company No. 05104383

For £1 British you should be able to get the home addresses of the Directors (Companies House). I'm sure they'd love to hear how much you appreciate their business practices.

    Their web site at
    http://www.ukparkingcontrol.com/faqs.aspx

    Says
When could I expect you to respond to an appeal?

We respond to all customer appeals within 5 working days.

    Might be worth a try.

We respond to all customer appeals within 5 working days.
That's 4 days rolling around the floor laughing at another gullible mug, and 1 day for Sharon to post a letter that says "Your appeal has been rejected, now pay up or we'll send the rottweilers round".

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

If they've paid it why not send a letter to Tesco, with a copy to your local paper, explaining the situation - how your parents felt threatened through no fault of their own, it's disgusting service, etc etc - and ask them to reimburse you?

I bet they'd give you the money, although even if you got in-store credit/vouchers that's got to be better than nothing...

You've nothing to lose and will only cost the price of a stamp.

Had similar with Tesco in Carmarthen a few years ago.Left car in car park Saturday night, came back to collect it at 9am Sunday (BEFORE the shop opened) and found parking ticket on screen. Sent snotty letter to Tesco along with Clubcard and cutting from local paper advertising the opening of the new Morrison's store.

Have heard nothing since. Trust me, they value your custom far more than they want the money for the car park.

I had alrady written to Tesco, and there has been no reply yet, but I will follow it up in the way you have suggested. If nothing else it will make me feel I have done something.

Cool - well good luck with it, hope it goes well!

I hadn't realised that supermarkets were trying to enforce their car parks in this way now, although I have seen some Tesco car parks with (what look like) number plate reading cameras on the entrance. Presumably to catch people who park their for long periods of time.
