Vodafone 'Free' Internet con 'Fri 1st May'

Dear All,
I saw that vodafone were offering free internet browsing for all on friday 1st May (below 25MB). As someone who won't use the WAP on his phone due to the high prices I thought i'd test it out on that day. I carefully read the T&C's and the webpage and felt sure i would not be charged.
After surfing it for a while that day (easily below 25MB) I then suddenly found my PAYG credit had dropped £8 and into the vodafone IOU credit service. This means not only have I been charged wrongly £8 but an also 30p for using, without realising, the IOU service.
Natually my first step was to ring Vodafone customer services which, on 3 occasions put me into a looping automated message system and never took me to a operator like had requested - yet they charged me 25p each time for the ride.
I emailed them, receiving a less than useful response:
I've had a look at our system and can see that you'll have to subscribe for the web pack by sending a text "webpack" to 97613.
Once you've done this you'll be able to use your unlimited internet pack.
Please note, as you are a pay as you talk customer you can access internet by paying no more than 50p a day to access the internet on your phone, subject to a 25MB daily data limit.
This subscription was not made clear in any advertisement or terms and conditions and now Vodafone have censored me on their eforum where i ask other customers if i had understood it right claiming that i put too much personal data on there when i put no more than saying i got charged £8. This is wrong!
Anyone else suffered the same fate?

(I have print screens of the ads and T&Cs for anyone wanting copies email to them.)

Dan McLellan again here.
Update: After a number of long emails backwards and forwards and a couple of phone calls I eventually got in contact with a Kirsty at Vodafone (via twitter) and she very quickly and nicely refunded me without question. So there are helpful staff on, but you sometimes don't find them immediately.
Thanks,
