Ive had another play with OH's kenwood. It does connect but goes into airplane mode. Still, its a good way to stop people calling me lol0

I have to agree with this I have had several versions and never been happy with them when used with my iPod, a really cheap one off ebay worked well with my previous MP3 player. My brother is a trained auto electrician so I don't have to worry about drilling, he can make a good job in a discrete place but even if the wire comes out of the edge of the dash it will be fine. The only thing to watch for is if the cable is visible it indicates there might be an iPod to break in for so make sure you can tuck it away when not in use.
