iPhone in my car

Sorry for posting so many threads about this kind of thing but it's my first car so I want to get it perfect
I have found a CD player I want and am going to fit it myself, it is compatible with iphones/ipods and you can use a certain cable that goes from the back of the headunit and connects to your iPod.
Now my question is, when I fit it, obviously there aren't going to be any gaps around the CD player so how do I run the cable out to connect to my iPhone?

By the way the iPhone is going to be mounted and plugged in the lighter socket.0

Im sure ive seen radios with a usb socket on them, could you not use that but since you've found a radio then it might run underneath the unit eg in a groove, i can't be certain as i dont have 10

I don't think there is a groove since I have seen pictures and videos of this set up and there is no cable coming out near the CD player.0

Mine comes out of the back of the stereo (unseen), then out of the dashboard in the passenger footwell, then between the carpet and the central console and then up just to the left of the handbrake. It's brilliant.
The alternative is to modify a spare 'button', but is a lot more work.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:A

maybe your answer is just above, like i said it was a guess,0 -
My cable comes out of a cubby hole under my radio, just big enough to hold the ipod out of direct sight if I forget to remove it. In my previous car it was in the glove box but it was a bit inconvenient.0

Ohhh I wouldn't have to drill any holes or anything would I?:o0

What car is it?
I've put ipod compatible stereos in 2 cars and didn't have to drill anything
There should be screws in the footwell that give you access to run the cable through the dashboard.

OMG. You're joking right.
The footwell is the space where your feet go. There are pedals in the driver's footwell, but not in the passenger's. You probably bought new mats for the footwells.
