N70 Sat Nav
Hello!!
I am struggling to work this out - I have just had an orange upgrade to the N70 (A very smart phone - very nice - would reccommend it!)
I would like to be able to use the phone as a Sat Nav system and looking on various websites I see it is possible to do.
Just wondering if anyone had previous experience of this or similar phones.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be good
Many Thanks people

not too difficult, you can use route 66 - very easy setup with BT GPS from ebay etc cost £50 ish, or Tom Tom Mobile 5, if you have the SW you can pair it with the same GPS receiver as mentioned above - requires a bit of work or buy the full kit from Tom Tom includes TT branded GPS receiver - easy to set up. pm me if you need help, I have done this on both symbian and MS smartphones0

Just to let you know that the N70 isn't 100% compatible with tomtom something to do with the bluetooth priority means it keeps crashing!!! Not sure if Route 66 is any better?? I'm waiting for Nokia to release some kind of patch!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

I use navicore on my 6630 and am really pleased with it. I've just looked on navicore's web site and it can be used on N70. There are a few reviews on the internet which you might like to look at.0

ive just put the tom tom 500 on my n70 and so far it seems to be working ok, although i havn't used it for any distance yet. will give it a full test this weekend.
When you say it crashes, does it do it regularly and you need to reboot or do you have to switch off and go through the whole thing again by putting destinations in etc?0 -
i started about 12 months ago with tomtom on pda's, i put onto mobile phone about 6 months ago, if you go on tomtoms website, there is a list of compatable phones, i have never had a problem with it, i have noticed the more poi you add it can seem to run slow, so i just have them all added but just have the speed cameras acctivated. It is a great piece of kit and would highly recommend, just looking at adding memory maps which are the ordance survey, then when you are on foot you can use these for walks etc, but i cant find a phone that takes them yet, does anyone one know different?0

this might sound simple but how do you activate only the speed camera database as a point of interest?0

matt, what version is your n70? iv got one too, remember you need to buy a GPS Bluetooth Reciever aswell, it'll cost you around £40-£50 for a decent one on ebay.
ideally, you'll need a bigger memory aswell, just to make sure that your decreasing the chance of the phone crashing whilst your using the e.g. tomtom5 software. i brought a 1gb mmc2 card for around £40 from ebay.
to check your version, push *#0000#
you'll then get a series of info, look at top like. it'll look something like: v 2.0537.1.7
to my knowledge, this is the latest software that 'orange' have released on the N70, tom tom 5 will work best on this version. my previous version was v 2.03.
if it is v 2.03, get a software update which is free as your phone if in its 1 year warrantee. get this from the nokia website and a nokia authorised dealer.
hope it helps,

I have the latest orange thev 2.0537.1.7 and tomtom doesn't work properly on it!!! works for about 30 mins then crashes.. you have to switch off the phone and start all over again. Someone has said to me that if you turn the maps off and just have the voice and basic 2d map then it's alot better... removing poi help too but I like to know where the cameras are!!!!
I'm trying to get hold of navicore so I can try that!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092
