You're paying for SKYMAG!

Options
I have just had a conversation with a friend of mine who pointed out that when flicking through her SkyMag she noticed in the small print she was being charged £1.75 a month from her subscription for the magazine.

She phoned up and they cancelled the magazine saving her £1.75 a month on her subscription.

Personally I would rather have the £1.75 a month to spend on a magazine of my choosing.

In the May/June skymag if you turn to page 68, in the right hand blue box is the small print telling you that you are paying £1.75 every month for the magazine.

Im planning on phoning up now to cancel mine. Hope this might save some people some pennies!!

I remember reading in a Sky Mag that you could cancel it but it wouldnt affect the price you pay each month.

Email through the sky help centre on the sky website, that way it costs you nothing to contact them as calling them is sometimes a nightmare and costly.

Well, after being kept on hold for about 10 mins I was cut off! The girl I spoke to said that she did not see the charge on my account - all she could see was the package charge and put me on hold to speak to a supervisor. (then I was cut off).
I have heard of this before, and am sure there was an old thread on here which said that while you did pay for the mag as it was included in the package price, the package would stay the same even if you cancel the mag as the mag was part of the package.

I will post back when I find the thread.

    Ok found the threads now:

  • I have just phoned up and spoke to Sky. If you are on 1 mix then you pay for the SkyMag. Otherwise they have assured me that I'm not paying any extra even though It states that I am in the magazine.

So if you are on 1 mix and dont want the mag, you could phone up and save yourself £1.75.

    Hope this helps!

The way it works is that basically although the mag costs 1.75 Sky will give you a discount of 1.75 on you subscription. If you un-subscribe then you lose your discount. Net effect is that you pay the same whether or not you take the mag. I believe that to be the same however many mixes you have.
