When ever i go to a Mexican restaurant (not very often! lol) i order quesadilla which is filled with stringy pork and a bbq sauce with cheese - totally lush. Well after reading some old treads Ive worked out how to cook the tortillas but im wondering now which kind of pork joint to buy and how to cook it to get that pulled pork look and yummy taste?
Ive also had pulled pork sandwiches in America and its just so soft, i cant imagine how im going to be able to replicate it?
Also can anyone recommend a BBQ sauce that isnt too strong? Home made or shop brought
Many thanks

Thanks so much, Im going to try this one -
Ingredients:- pork shoulder roast, about 4 pounds
- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 bottle (16 ounces) barbecue sauce, or 2 cups homemade sauce
- 1 cup chopped onion
Place half of the thinly sliced onions in bottom of slow cooker; add pork and water, along with remaining onion slices. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or 4 to 5 hours on HIGH heat setting. Drain liquid from slow cooker; chop the meat coarsely and discard excess fat. Put the pork back in the slow cooker. Add barbecue sauce and chopped onion. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours longer. Stir occasionally. Serve with warm split buns and coleslaw.
I will then make quesadilla's with it.
Does anyone know if i can freeze pork when its been mixed with bbq sauce?
I will let you know how it goes
Thanks again

Pork shoulder is definitely the one to go for. I made barbecued pulled pork with the leftovers of a roast shoulder joint.0

Hi all,
Wanting to make pulled pork tomorrow in the slow cooker for tea on Tuesday, but I have a few questions.
The bbq sauce, should I just use Heinz BBQ sauce or does it need to be something else?
How much should I expect to pay for 1.5kg of pork shoulder?
It's only me here so I will have loads left. Can I freeze the leftovers to reheat for sandwiches?
Thanks,

Hi Kevie,
According to MySupermarket it's £5.99 for a 1.5Kg pork shoulder joint, although butchers will vary. I've made barbecue pulled pork and just used the shop bought BBQ sauce to cook it in. It made lovely pulled pork baps for tea, and the leftover meat froze very well indeed. I didn't use it in rolls when it came out of the freezer so I'm not sure if it will reheat well, but I froze it in little bags and it made a really nice pizza topping.

Thanks for that, it's really helpful.
When you say 'shop bought' do you mean the bbq sauce that you find with the ketchup etc. or do you mean a marinade/cook in sauce?
