  • Do you KNOW that you will never drink again? Or do you still thnk about where you are going/what you are doing in association with alcohol.
I am going on holiday on Saturday for my first non-drinking All Inclusive holiday and everyone keeps saying 'Oh you will have a drink...you've paid for it...one wont hurt' and it does worry me a bit....although I am sure I wont have one really

The garden comments remind me that I would love to sit on a patio in the sun with a very large G&T, with ice and lemon. Half a bottle of gin later I would then switch to wine!
I never thought that I would be able to fly without being drunk.
    I can!
I can also celerate births, weddings and funerals without alcohol.
My required holiday reading is Living Sober as I can identify with the contents.
Have a great holiday. Without alcohol you will be able to remember it.
    Good luck.

Waves to Budgie. Keep up the great work.
    Living Sober.

Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

    Thanks RA.
I can do holidays without alcohol and have....it just seems different when its free:o.
But not free really as there would be such a heavy price to pay I am sure.
Really I do know that I wont have a drink whilst away and will try to find a copy of Living Sober before I go.
Take care of you and thanks again.

 Spooky! Something made me look at this thread today for the first time in a week or so. Have had a fair few AFDs in May, don't know how many (and I'm not counting) and have been moderate on the others. So far so good. Apart from the cheese addiction. There's always something...

    Take care,

    HS

    Hi all- happy birthday DOTSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I am alcohol and (hopefully) scabies free- made the big mistake of looking them up on the net and they are gross close up- have had to boil wash all the bedding, clothes, and bleach all the taps and surfaces. No more shaking hands with strangers for me in future-yuk.

Everyone seems really upbeat at the moment- its brilliant.

    Happy Birthday Dotstar :D

I have just come back from the addiction support place. The counsellor says she will write to my GP as I have come to the end of my set of 12 sessions, and hopefully won't need to go back :j:j.

I still have the option to phone up and go back if I want to see the counsellor again, but I told her I never want to see her again :rotfl::rotfl:. I think she took it the right way :D

When I saw all the other poor people and their various addictions in there it made me even more determined to stick at it as it made me realise how close I was to the edge of the cliff !

I had to do a chart on how happy I was, how emotionally & physically fit I felt etc.
I was astounded how different the marks were compapred with the one I did six months ago. I should have asked for a photocopy to keep as a warning and reminder of how better I feel for not drinking!

    Anyway - enough rambling
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, especially Dotstar :j
