ETA: I presume you got your username from Airplane?? So I take it this would be the wrong time to give up glue sniffing :rotfl: (if no-one has watched the films they're all gonna think I'm nuts :rotfl:).

& I've picked a hell of a day to give up heroin :D can watch those films over & over.

I was also a big hair person in the 80s - it was the only time I've loved my hair cos I didn't need the perm it was natural; even hairdressers used to think I'd had it permed. Is why I have it short these days

Now I'm going to be Mrs doom & gloom (just stop reading; it's so boring) - had my 2 days at OH's planned drinking days, fine. Usually we stay there Sunday but came home this morning cos DD is away with school all next week & lots of packing (never want to see another name tag) to be done. I haven't been keeping any wine in my house, it's all at his, & when we left this morning I thought for a nanosecond about grabbing a couple of bottles & didn't, was so determined to be af today. THEN, at the very start of the packing turns out DD (less of the first D now, almost called her FD :rotfl:) has left her sponge bag at OH's so a 10 mile round trip to retrieve it & guess what I had tucked under my arm when I left this time? Have been reading thro the posts & GC's & Bis's in particular have made me weep, even more than bhb & bloody abba.

Maybe it's cos of DD being away I'm so churned up the last few days; she's never been away without me apart from sleepovers at friends' houses, I keep saying I can't wait but it's going to be very peculiar; with no other family around she's always been with me, never had a break. I need it but don't need it iykwim.

Anyway needless to say - to steal Jo's phrase - today down the pan & prob most of next week will take refuge at OH's, sorry guys. Despise myself for this.

NTC haven't said anything about you leaving us at the end of May; wanted to come upw ith something moving, witty, original, but can only say will miss you x

    Hello,

I've been a long time lurker of this thread and the old one but haven't had the guts to post till now. Over the past year or so I have been realising how much I drink but was in denial before that, till I started reading this thread. I thought I was the only one that had a daily drinking habit, I am amazed at how many 'normal' people are the same!

The support you all give one another is fantastic and so I just wanted to say thank you to you all for helping me without you even knowing it over the past year or so. Thanks :)

I have not had any alcohol free days for a few years now but might have to try and have one, scary thought

Hope you dont mind me posting?

    Shirley :o

    :hello: all,

another newbie here who would like to join in. I've been reading bits of this thread and it's a great place for support in cutting down on alcohol.

I cut back my alcohol intake at the start of the year by only drinking at weekends and even then only have a couple of glasses of wine or a g & t. Sadly it has crept up to a drink every night again and it has to stop. I've re-gained some of the weight I lost at the start of the year, I'm not running as often as I did, and my skin is beginning to look distinctly unpleasant.

Having typed the above can anyone explain to my why I drink at all

Oh yeah, it tastes nice

Anyway, for those of you still reading ;) I've counted the days left in the month (15) and aim to stay alcohol free for 11 of them. From now on I will only have a drink on a Friday and Saturday night.

please, please, please budget babe can you add me to your list and I promise I'll do my best not to bring the collective target down :A

    thanks
