    Some kind of good news...
DH has noticed the floral bits creeping in and I said I like it and that it was pretty and I was testing the water before I broached the subject of decorating, so he said that he didn't care how I did the house as long as I keep it tidy. So I have the green light if I can just be a bit more domesticated! I might have to find where we keep the hoover...

Claire your boot sale finds are brill I love that measure.
Vicki - Im glad you are able to get the kitchen you want, my Dh is just so disinterested in furnishings that I can do whatever I want - bless him.

    Hi all

I've been reading this thread all week, and, love the things you are painting.

I have a chair that I'd like to practice on, please could someone point me in the right direction of the posting of "How to paint.......etc"

I have bought a small tin of F&B in cream, but I need to know what to do after the sanding, and if I need to put protection over the F&B, as it will hopefully be an easy chair in the kitchen and get a lot of use.

Just wondered if there is a step by step guide somewhere on here?

    Thank you in advance

    hi all

does anyone know if i can use hammerite on wood i found a lovely hammered copper one and want to paint my stairs the back not the treads

I've used spray Hammerite (it was on sale) on the wooden base of a standard lamp without any problem at all - didn't even do anything to prepare the varnished wood. I imagine that paint on Hammerite would be just as easy to use.

Sorry for loads of posts but I just had to let you know that I spoke to DH about the kitchen cupboards (he fitted dark doors a few years ago and I wanted to paint them cream). He agreed as long as it didn't look naff (I'm toning it down lol!)
Anyway I went to B&Q and picked up some cupboard paint, I was very tempted by the cheaper cream eggshell but with DH's words ringing in my ears I thought I'd better do it "properly".
I've done the first coat on one door and I can already tell that it is going to be so much nicer and brighter in there. I will of course update you when there is more to tell!

Please will you post before and after pictures? I'm hoping I can use them to convince my DH its worth me painting my long term but temporary kitchen. It has to look good because when we replae the kitchen the units will be used in the utility room and in the barns (where clients might see them)

Hmmm, for some reason people on this thread like to pretend I don't exist! Perhaps I should get the hint...

    Hi everyone :D

Some excellent finds on here... I REALLY love that dresser - would look fab in my living room.

I am so envious of all your painting... I always seem to get bad brush strokes when I paint wooden furniture. Any advice here, before I put down my brush for good? Is it the quality of the brush perhaps?

I am in no way an expert but I imagine it's a case of not loading up the paint too much and painting thin layers.

Didn't want to leave your question unanswered. Hope I'm not wrong, lol.

Sorry, Kevin. I can't help you as I'm a fabric, thread and paper girlie and haven't painted anything for a really long time (with the exception of walls and torus board), but I didn't want to pretend you don't exist!!

I'd love to know the answer to you question, I may try my hand at painting then!]
