Wow you lot have been busy, if I don't read every day I feel like I am losing out.
That red chair is beautiful and will be a lovely project to shabby up.
Laurel, we dont think you are mad because we are too, well my DH tells me I am! I think it's great to reuse rather than dump.
When I was divorced many years ago now, I had nothing and I rented a house and furnished the whole thing from the local tip, the charity shops and the YMCA! Everything was shabbied up, painted, rag rolled, wood grained or covered in throws, and I loved the feel of that place.
BTW I popped into Laura Ashely last night and had a little dream about all the lovely things I can't afford, and I found they were selling a couple of rolls of wallpaper off as the packaging had been torn for £1.50 each. My friend and I bought a roll each to use as drawer liners, or photo mounts or even wrapping paper, I was really pleased. It might be worth having a look at your local one as they also have fabric off cuts in a bin reduced (but I thought they were too expensive). You can stand there and agonize........

If you are going to use wallpaper as drawer liners, would you put essential oils on it to get them scented? If you did this would you put the oil on the back of the paper? Presumably that way it would sink in. Or actually, just had another thought, what about adding some oils to some water in a spray bottle with a fine spray. Then spray it all over the back of the paper and it wouldn't hopefully leave oil spots showing through the picture.
My lovely hubby plastered one wall in our bedroom last night and shifted the mattress. Now I want him to move the door so that we can have the bed where he's put it at the moment . I wish he'd just humoured me and completely emptied the room when we started so that we could practice with shifting furniture around. It would solve many of our wardrobe issues too. We could squeeze one single either side of the bed. I can't believe I'm saying this but we could also put cupboards in above the bed  to put the lighting in for bedside lights. It would leave my alcove free for my dressing table and we'd be able to fit a chair in in front of the window.

Just received the Hotter shoes I ordered. They came in a proper, sturdily made shoe box, with a seperate lid, ideal for storage. Now what can I use to cover it...:D0

For scenting drawer liners, pop the sheets in a plastic bag, put a few drops of essential oil on some cotton wool and place in the bag. Tie the bag closed and leave for a few days. The paper will absorb the scent but won't have oil on it to mark your clothes.0

DH NOT Happy! Looks like we'll be doing the room like I said earlier. It means taking down some boards which have already been put up though. Thankfully he's not plastered them yet.
So I'm thinking of putting in a huge hotel style headboard (wall mounted) that almost fills the space. I did have a thought about perhaps putting a small shelf around the top to store books, alarm clocks and such like. I will go and see the people who make them for ideas.
Next mistake was telling DH how I wanted the bathroom. Mistake no. 3 was telling him that next doors DD has chosen to have her room in their current bathroom when they do their upstairs renovation. I said it was probably because the girls are going to conspire to get my DD to swap bedrooms with DS. DH gets very pale and says no! (DS's room still to be done. DD's is done and would have to be redecorated for DS!).
A few minutes ago I was thinking about what would go in top cupboards and looked up at our sliding doors (on the wall below what I'm thinking of). DH saw me and said "That's staying!". I've been planning to make some for ages as well but never had the fabric for it  In my head it was categorised under 'clothes' not 'crafting', that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
Please don't kick me out of the thread for being a bad shabby chic-er!:rotfl:
