I have many happy childhood memories of my Aunties huge button jar. As a small child, I used to stick my hand in and feel them. Or empty them all out and sort into colours etc - and then put them all back again. Even as a young 'un I used to reminisce about long grown out of clothes that buttons came from.
    I love buttons!

You know how we were moaning about charity shops the other day, well the charity shop gods were smiling down on me yesterday and I found these:

I know they are not strictly shabby chic but what they turn into may well be. Got the lot for £1 - I added a bit more as I felt bad. More pics elsewhere.
Wow Kandi - what a bargain...i love them! Im a button addict:o.... lol.

    Hey All,
My first shabby chic post! Have been an avid watcher for a while and can I just say some of the items on here are both beautiful and inspiring!!!
I'm looking for some advice... When I moved into my house I was gifted an ugly but very functional sofa bed. I cant really afford to replace it and actually the sofa bed is very comfy... But the fabric is gross and tatty and the cushions not very comfy!
I thought it would be my ideal first SC project. Only problem is I have no idea where to start!!
Anybody know where the best place to start looking is?? Or anybody done it before. Its a normal sofa bed where the bed bit is within the base of the sofa, and you take the seat cushions off to pull it up and out.
Im very motivated and ambitious but directionless.... :o
Thank you very much in advance to anyone with any good ideas
    Elsie

Whilst looking for my next project, which is upholstering a sofa & chairs, I came upon this. Not sure if it's any help, it also looks like Bibbitys one.

    Hi all,

I'm driving myself mad trying to remember something, and I wonder if all you experts can help.

Whats the name of that classic 50's/60's china pattern-the one with all the black cross hatching? I keep thinking something along the lines of "Jazz", but as I'm on a Google to nowhere with that I guess I'm wrong.

    Re the buttons,
I was taught to count, add, subtract, multiply, divide - basically everything related to numbers by my Dad and he used to use piles of buttons and these little clear pots with red lids. I now can't see a pile of buttons without feeling the need to do some sort of sums with them!
I still remember these really cute ones we used to have which were teddy bears and then when you stitched them on to something the thread made a little bow tie style thing!
