Not sure if this is universal but my Homebase had Laura Ashley paint half price.

Still umming and ahhing about my bed decision, also now trying to find a mattress, never bought a new one before...

Bathroom - ours will be white tiles floor to ceiling and white suite so I need to add some colour. Would love pink but have 2 boys and an OH so just me and baby to enjoy it lol so think I will not... any ideas? Thought maybe adding blinds would add colour to the walls...

Ragz - blinds are good - especially in a strong colour with towels to match. How about a deep turquoise or if you can't get away with pink (dark fuchsia?) how about a dark red. TK Max are pretty good for strong colours .Whatever colour you choose you can pick up in some small accessories. you can change the look of the bathroom whenever you feel like it (or can afford!)

    White bathroom?
What about going for pine bathroom cabinet, loo seat etc with lots of green plants?
Or just shabby up the bathroom cabinet and loo seat?
Of course best of all would be a freestanding bath and a high level cistern on the loo (complete with a chain and pull handle).
A few wicker baskets for laundry and storage...could be shabby-chiced up with fabric linings, maybe think nautical or green foliage (to go with the plants, in their shabby chic pots) designs as something gender-neutral.
And makeup brushes could be stored in a old creamware jug.
If you have room for a small table, put a bowl and jug on it, like a wash-stand. You could keep spare soaps, facecloths etc in the bowl.

    Hi all,
Haven't posted for a while but i've still been reading all the posts, alot have had great bargains.
I got a heavy brass mirror the other week, similar to the ones on ebay that are described as rococo,so was well chuffed.
Anyway as i said when was on last time we'd been decorating the hall and stairs and i decided to put it above a shabby looking cupboard i'd got at the top of the stairs, but i've been looking at it since i put it up and didn't like it as it was. So today i painted it in 2 coats of duck egg and 3 coats of white and then when it was dry i sanded it with fine sandpaper and i'm now really pleased with it. Even my neighbour noticed it and thought i'd bought a new mirror, she keeps saying that thers always something new coming into my flat but little does she know its old stuff thats had a shabby attack lol.
Next job is a small chair for my grandaughter and of couse i'm going to paint it pink but will have to shabby it a bit too.

OMG, you are so lucky (with your bargains and your OH!). :D Mine is pretty laid back, but he thinks I'm nuts buying furniture before we've even bought a house.

Use PVA glue which is the white stuff that you used to use in primary school that peels off your hands when dry! :)

You can get it in craft shops or DIY stores. Use it reasonably sparingly but dab on enough to soak through the napkin. Best to use single layer of napkin (pull the layers apart) and rip off smallish pieces and layer them over each other on any thin parts or edges of the placque or whatever.

Your things sound lovely and duck egg is one of my favourite colours:) How long do you usually leave between coats of paint?
