It's probably contract dependant, but I thought O2 had an upper limit on what they charge for data?
    Pay Monthly customers

Browsing costs no more than £1 per day. You will be charged £3 per MB up to a maximum of £1 per day with O2 Web Daily. If you intend on using a lot of data we recommend you take the Unlimited Web Bolt On for £7.50 per month.

Before I got the unlimited we bolt-on I used my phone to connect to the internet several times and got charged no more than £1. I have no idea if the above is relevent to you, but thought I'd mention it.

The other problem with mobile internet is that so many people come on here and say, 'I went online but I didn't download anything, how can they charge me that?' There's a widespread misunderstanding of what viewing a web page involves in terms of data transfer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
