This is the 14th wanted ad he's placed this week to both local freecycle groups - he also needs, an x-box, xbox games for a boy of 5 or 6 depending on which of his messages you read, mahogany coffee table, shark portable steam cleaner, fish tank, tolls (probably to go in the toll box) and fish tank light 3ft x 43"!

Hello! Long tme no chat. Gee i'm rubbish (just like to keep on topic )

Thought of this thead this morning when this came through this morning...

"We have such a massive group now 11,178 members to be precise.. We all know that its got to be less than 70% who are participating and actually read their emails so we would like to filter out the stray members and also filter out the spammers who have been driving us all insane! So here goes..

Every member has 3 weeks to reply to this email.. If you wish to

Now whilst I understand the reason behind the email...it's easier to get into and stay in Uni around here than be a member of freecycle!!

I've given up looking at the wanteds and offereds for the moment...I never got lucky on the couple of occasions I responded to offered ads anyway and I'm not responded to wanteds out of principle because despite often giving stuff to people who have posted wanteds in the past and posted offereds in the past, I got my one and only ask for ages rejected because I hadn't actually offered anything on the board for 3 months. (also bear in mind I have NEVER had a wanted fulfilled!) Even when I mailed the list "owner" to explain and ask her to let te message through, she was snotty. So I have a new ethos as far as freecycle goes:

I am keeping things I have to offer until I have something to ask for. Then I will post an offered and a wanted at the same time. One in, one out.

Why should I offer stuff if when I ask for something I get blown out? I KNOW thats no the idea of Freecycle but you know what? I'm past caring. Rude and greedy I am not, but this type of person seems to rule freecycle these days, shame really.
