I ran it by my friend - I thought that she might think I was naming my daughter after my only sporting hero - Ronnie O'Sullivan! Luckily, she didn't laugh when i told her the name!
DD1 has a foreign name which English people can't say properly without a bit of teaching. This time, we wanted something easier to get right!0 -
I know it's a bit early to think about, but those of you that are working full-time, when do you plan on starting your mat leave? it's really difficult to decide because I want to balance not being horribly tired at work with having as much time with baby as poss after birth...???
I got told that most people start their maternity leave a month before they are due as it gets so difficult to work after that point. Alternatively if you have any annual leave left you can take that before you start maternity leave. Personally I think I would be so bored if I wasn't at work but currently just seeing how I go before I make any decisions.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

thanks jenny & searching...I've heard roughly a month, too. I'll have some annual leave stored up (maybe 3 wks' worth), which I was definitely planning to use to extend my mat leave. jenny, I know what you mean - will be really bored after a couple wks off, but I know it will be worth it not to be exhausted?
i just have an easy desk job, so technically I could work right up 'til the birth and be fine - not that i want to!!! guess I'll wait and see how I feel, you're right.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I think with he 'famous' names the thing to think about is how famous they are and do they have 'staying power' the likelihood is that a character on a TV soap will be long gone by the time your LO starts school IMO0 -
Now that would be odd - when is your scan and are you finding out?
15 May. We're not going to specifically ask about sex but nor will we look away if there is a good view of the area. In our scanning department, they have a largish TV screen on the left hand side for the parents to watch the scan on as it happens, and the sonographer with her screen sits on the right, so you don't have to rely on someone to move out of the way or turn the screen round for you at key points.Originally Posted by aless02

I think leave the decision to the last possible minute if you can. With no 1 I worked up to the Friday and had him by planned c-section the following Monday. With no 2 (and another baby at home to look after) I gave up about 6 weeks before she was due. Having said that I had a pretty sedentary office job and a shortish commute to work (albeit on London public transport!). I imagine a more physical job would mean you'd want to end earlier, as would any physical problems in the pregnancy, like SPD, blood pressure issues, etc.0 -
I'm going to leave it to the last minute... well, not literally I hope but probably about a week before. I can work from home anyway so I'd rather have the time after Cub's here.
I should so not be allowed anywhere near where they sell baby stuff. Went into tk maxx and they had a whole rail of those little sleeping bag things (what are they called??). There was a cute blue stripey one with a little ark motif, on the ark was a lion, a griaffe and a zebra (or anyway there was def a lion!) just had to buy itMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

aless - my ML officially starts on the 3rd Aug - the day before my due date. I have 19 days hols which I can use, roll over to next yr or take as paid, so I will see how I am the further along I get. I'm actually dreading the though of being home, on my own, waiting for bubs to arrive.:embarasse_pale_ I think I may reduce the number of days I am in the office per week IYSWIM.0

Nicki - not sure I'd know what I was looking at even if I was looking right at it. Scanner person pointed out 2 dots, said it was a classic hamburger and therefore likely to be a girl lolMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!
