    Good morning ladies and bumps,

    Hope all is well!

Mountainlioness - I understand what you are going through with the MIL. Mine asked me on friday what I thought about baby monitors. I told her That I dont think they are worth buying as our house is so small. So when OH and I picked her up on saturday to give her a lift home she presented OH with a brand new baby monitor. OH told her off as I had relayed the Friday convo to him earlier that day. She said "I'm not trying to undermine you, I just think it is worth having". Her other trick, even though we dont know baby's gender is to make things for baby that have pink in them. She is an amazing seamstress and I am grateful, its just that my opinion of nuetral colours is not pink and lilac stripy material. I see cream, yellow, green, orange, red, brown etc as neutrel. Oh well.... sorry that turned into a rant! She bugs me...she is tooo helpful. I am used to doing things for myself and my mum lets me choose what I want as she knows if I dont want it, its more than likely that I wont use it.

Will stop ranting about MIL and go get some brekkie! Sorry!

Sounds like mine, told OH last week she hopes he makes plenty of time for himself whilst on paternity leave and gets plenty of cycling in!

Do we have the same MIL?? Mine has told OH to try and get out on his bike as much as possible whilst its sunny and before baby arrives next week. She then follwoed this up with, "well whilst Laura is BFing you can go out for a ride" OH turned round and told her to shut up. I love my OH, I find it highly amusing that he really doesnt like his mum, but she tries to dote over him. (just to add she was a crap mother - OH words not mine - so OH is quite happy that I ignore all of her advice even if I am being blatant about it :D)

OH gave it back to her but she left it in the car when we dropped her off. We have decided to keep it in its box and sell on ebay... possibly with the description of "Unwanted present from interfering MIL" :D

oh I do love these MIL's!!
The main problem I have with mine is that she thinks because she had no problems with BFing and leaving her newborn with her mum to go out for a meal for her birthday when he was 3wks old that everyone else should be the same:rolleyes:

She was a bit off with me when I turned down the offer of free tickets to a concert for 6 weeks after Chris was due. I was like its my 1st baby I have no clue how I'm going to feel but I was pretty sure I wouldn't be ready to leave him and when it came to it I wasn't!! I didn't leave him with someone else until he was 4mths - nothing against others who do that but that was when I felt 'happy' to let someone else look after him for any length of time.
She thinks I'm over protective of Chris but I know I'm far from lots of other mothers I see in terms of how much freedom I give him and he's pretty happy in general so I can't be doing that bad of a job!!

if it is, it would be funny if you accidentally let slip via a PM to me

My OH never hears the comments, or when he does he doesn't react. Seems to think it's better to just ignore so I take it out on him once she's gone. Her boys are her life, as was her husband. She did everything for them and thinks that's a womans place. Angry with us because we moved 45mins away as she said families should stay together which doesn't make sense as she moved down here from London at 20 to get married.
