Putting a cd player in my car

I am wondering how I go about getting a cd player fitted in my car (ford fiesta mk4 1996). I have found a cd player i like http://reviews.cnet.com/in-dash-car-stereos/jvc-kd-bt11-radio/4505-6729_7-32855068.html but the space in my car where the radio is now, is bigger than that stereo. Will I be left with unsightly gaps? Also is this possible to do and what kind of place should I go to get it done.
I went to look in halfords but I didn't like the cd players they had there.
How much will it cost to be fitted?

that gets good reviews, but i think its cheaper in argos, and definatly cheaper on ebay (brand new).
you can also get a fascia adaptor that turns the blanking plate into a storage area for a few discs. ive got one like that and ive fitted a kind of home made ipod docking station in it.;)...work permit granted!0 -
Yeah it looks really nice and is a good price if you get it from the right place. That's the reason I wanted aux in so I can connect my ipod to it and I have an ipod holder for my car so it will be cool lol.0

you could add this and it would be cooler, ipod controls throught the stereo....work permit granted!0 -
It isn't difficult to fit for any reasonably competant DIYer. You would need an adaptor for the wiring harness too.
There is a whole kit on fleabay which contains everything you need (apart from the resonably competant DIYer)

I don't think doing it myself would be a good idea!!! I am not technically minded as far as cars are concerned.
Would a normal garage do this job or do I go to some kind of specialist?
I just thought of something else..will I be able to charge my ipod using the cigarette light if I buy the right cable (just wondering if all cars can do this)0 -

one of these?
a normal garage would be able to fit a stereo for you no problem, should only take about half an hour at the very most....work permit granted!0 -
yeah one of those, will it work in my car?
Sounds good then, just have to buy the fascia plate - will probably get the one with storage underneath, bit more expensive but looks better. Then buy the CD player!!0 -
You will also need a wiring harness and an aerial adaptor

plus the adaptor listed by goldspanners in post #6 controls the ipod from the head unit and charges it, and it can be kept hidden away in the glove box.0
