yeah one of those, will it work in my car?

Sounds good then, just have to buy the fascia plate - will probably get the one with storage underneath, bit more expensive but looks better. Then buy the CD player!! :p

if your car has a ciggy lighter plug then yes it will charge your ipod, but dont try and charge it while listening to it as it will give some interference.

this one seems to have everything you would need. it will be easier and cheaper if you supply allthe parts from ebay, as the garage will charge you retail price, something like what halfords charge

    WOW! Didn't know those existed.

After thinking about it and researching I am going to do it myself. Am i right in thinking this is what I need:
    CD player
    Fascia plate
Tool to remove the current radio cassette
    ISO wiring harness
    Aerial adapter

Only seems like a few wires doesn't look too difficult.

    Thanks everyone for helping me!

good for you, it isnt too bad to do, the hardest part is removing the ford stereo, they can be a bit tight so be prepared to use a bit of force, push the pins into the holes and then push then away from each other while pulling towards you.
everything else should just be a case of plugging in to the right places ( all made fool proof) and then locating the new stereo and fascia tidily.

    good luck.

metal coat hangers are great for removing ford stereos. Just snip the ends off to make a pair of U shapes.

Ive swapped stereos in my KA, Focus and Mondeo doing that (and im going to need to find the codes for the stereos too as im getting rid of the KA and Focus but thats another thread...)

The facia plates are a little flimsy as they are only held in by friction alone but ive had no problems with them falling out. For interest sake you can get KA adaptor plates that are colour matched too!

With the wiring harness I got a ford -> ISO plug - not forgetting you might need an adaptor for your aerial plug too - I did. It really is a very simple job and you have very little chance of causing damage to your car. The ford plugs are big rectangles which plug into the ISO lead. The hardest part is stuffing all the cables back in without scraping your hands on the new stereo cradle.
