ive just been given a kenwood cd stereo and i have a 2003 ford fiesta and the connections are different can i buy adaptors that would enable me to just plug the ford connections into the new one appreciate any advice

The standard for connecting up radios in Europe and UK is an ISO connector, which is two 8-pin connectors, often stuck together into one big one. Unfortunately most cars don't actually come with one of these (some, such as VW and Vauxhall, use the same type of connector but with different wiring*). Search google images for "car ISO connector"
Your radio will probably have a non-standard connector on the back, but hopefully it will come with a short lead that turns this into an ISO connector. You then just need to buy a Ford -> ISO adaptor either online or from the likes of Halfrauds and plug it all together. You may also need an aerial adaptor too.
* - Typically this is just that the red and yellow wires are swapped over. The radio will appear to work but will lose it's memory and maybe eject your CD every time you start the car. Many radios come with a lead that allows you to swap these over without buying a separate adaptor, if not you can find some other way, most likely involving a crimp tool or a soldering iron.0
