Well, I've now ordered a new parcel shelf and the JBLs, so they should be coming next week. Thanks for all your help (which may be required again come fitting time!).

Just come across these http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_504825_langId_-1_categoryId_165707 I suspect halfords have either made an error on the price or they are clearance.

Okaay, the JBLs have arrived, but they have minimal instructions, no speaker wire and no obvious templates! Am I missing something or should I just pay someone to sort it?

were they brand new? they should have come with cable.
if not dont fear, get yourself to maplin for a roll of speaker cable and some female spade connectors, one side should be a large spade and one side should be a small spade connector, and get a cheap set of crimps.

then get some cardboard and make up some templates then get the jigsaw out and get cutting your new parcel shelf.

Thanks for that. Having thought about it it doesn't actually seem that hard now. No Maplin anywhere near here but I'm sure I can find something. Is it just normal speaker cable? Like for a home hifi? Or is it special car stuff?

Yes they were brand new, all the polythene bags were sealed. I do remember reading somewhere that JBLs don't come with wires and stuff. :S Anyway, nevermind.

yip, that will do just fine, some folk get a bit anal and want to use oxygen free cable, but for a couple of speakers any cable will be fine.
i think poundland even sell a small roll of it.

I was just thinking my local pound shop sells it. Erm, halfords seems to sell quite a range of spades, 5amp, 15amp??!!

Good point. I wasn't going to get them from there, just seeing which ones I needed. I'll try that, or I'll go into radioshack tomorrow. Thanks again for your help.

I think you get about 10 for the price Halfords sells a set of 4 for, in Maplins.
