Upgrade time. Best deals?
Hi,
I'm on o2 and am due an upgrade in 1 and a half months. I'm currently on o2 200 at £30 per month and don't tend to go over the free minutes (200mins/50texts) with the exception of one month where I spent £50.
I've received a couple of calls this week from a company called Dragon Mobiles about joined the '3' network. I have no intention of joining 3 due to their shoddy reputation.
I called o2 Cancellations and was told I could stay on my current tariff of o2 200 for £30 and receive £150 cashback (3x50) over the 12 months. Also, double minutes and texts for the first 3 months.
I'm looking for a k750i for free or Nokia 8800 at a reasonable price. I'd also like to reduce my bill to around £20 or lower with the same / more minutes. Is this possible via a new contract (any network except 3)? Preferably without cashback?
Thanks alot,
GT

look at T Mobile's new flext tariff. You get an allowance rather than a specific set of minutes and texts, which is great.
Buy direct from T Mobile shop or site if you don't want cash back (which is better) as you get 25% off tariff immediately. https://www.t-mobile.co.uk
Flext 25 costs £18.75 directly from T-Mobile. They give you £60 to spend per month. An example for you is 205 mins and 190 texts inclusive.0 -

I've had a look and Flext 25 does look pretty good, but the main downside is an 18 month contract. Also, the D750i looks ugly in that silver colour, but this is less important
. I'm ideally looking for a 12 month contract, but all suggestions are welcome and appreciated. 0 -

i have noticed more or less all your recommendations are for them!!!
if i remember it right their customer service is terrible if you can get through!Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
I've also read that about the customer service at t-mobile. I'm very open to alternatives.

No I have looked for phones for so long now I am going to check with my doctors incase I have OCD for phones.
Needless to say I wash my hands of overpriced phone tariffs and trying to get the best deal tomorrow when my phone arrives!!!!
No I wish I did work for T Mobile ....
btw .. i read somewhere that most the networks are trying to give 18 month tariffs 50% more value than 12 months .... they're really pushing now so dont rule out 18 months.0 -
I will consider 18 months and will consider cashback, I just don't have much over £20 per month to spend on this.
I'd also like to find something I can try and get o2 to beat when I call them next, a tariff at around £20 or less with at least the same minutes as I have now etc.0 -
never ever upgrade, you get nothing from the networks, always take a new contract and if you want to keep your number just ask for a pac code.0

I haven't been able to find much to beat my network offer (mentioned above) so far. Also, how long before my contract ends can I request my PAC code? 12 months have passed on April 26th on my contract.k8vin wrote:never ever upgrade, you get nothing from the networks, always take a new contract and if you want to keep your number just ask for a pac code.0 -
If you check out the O2 retentions thread you can see the kind of deals that have been offered to O2 customers threatening to leave the network. Phone when your contract is one month from ending and say you want to leave as you can no longer afford £30 every month. If you can quote a competitor's tariff like the Flext 25 (at £18.25), even better. Most callers have been offered the 200 tariff at £15 or so and got a new phone,as well. If you don't get a suitable deal at first, be prepared to haggle or call back later and get a better deal!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

30 days. You can cancel anytime but you will be asked to pay the remainder of the contract.....
If you cancel on contract end day on a 12 month contract, you will in effect have paid for 13 months because they make you pay for 30 days after PAC code issued.
You still have full use of the contract though until transfer is made.0
